A Sr Phlebotomist serves patients by identifying the best method for retrieving blood; preparing specimens for laboratory testing; and performing screening procedures. Primary responsibilities include verifying test requisitions, verifying patient identification, obtaining blood specimens by venipunctures and finger sticks, maintaining specimen integrity using aseptic technique, tracking collected specimens, maintaining quality results, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, resolving unusual test orders, updating job knowledge through education and professional organizations, and logistical management including printing patient reports, billing question triaging, and scheduling courier pick-ups. The role requires working with PHI regularly and completing HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire. Must maintain current status on Natera training requirements. Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience, a High School Diploma or equivalent, and a Phlebotomy Certificate if required by the state; a BS/BA degree is preferred. The job requires working in an office setting with scrubs and tracking each draw.
