Responsible for the preparation, storage and distribution of medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Additionally responsible for inventory control in the absence of the buyer, orientation and training of technician staff, PI and QA data collection, and reports and other projects as assigned.
Training as per State Board of Pharmacy requirements for Pharmacy Technician.
Two years as a pharmacy technician in a hospital environment is required. Must have knowledge of trade/generic drug names and aseptic technique for the preparation of all types of IVs. Must be able to perform mathematical calculations and have sufficient typing skills for computer order entry. Must have good understanding of pharmacy systems, pharmacy's role in the hospital setting and the interface between pharmacy and other departments. Needs general understanding of pharmacy computer applications, same technical expertise in personal computers, and be able to use common reference material. Able to withstand stress of high activity area. Proficiency in English (verbal and written skills) in order to communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, and nursing/medical staff. Excellent customer service skills required.
Pharmacy Technician License is required. Annual 2 hours of stroke education required for those working at QVH.

$25.80 - $36.90
