Job Description Summary:
The Sr. Performance Engineer will oversee the day-to-day operational activities of active projects & pursuits of SOLV Energy’s O&M and EPC portfolio.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensures that all employees from field team to office follow safe practices while working.
Collaborate with internal teams to collect and consolidate necessary data to complete reports, Acceptance tests, other analytical tools, and deliverables.
Support on-boarding/commissioning of O&M/EPC projects into SOLV Energy’s internal platforms.
Collaborate with fellow Performance Managers, Engineers, Analysts, and Jr. Analysts to track critical issues within fleet (equipment, parts, manufacturers, etc.) and share findings with internal teams with a common goal of fleet optimization.
Troubleshoot performance data/equipment to determine and track challenges associated with operations/commissioning and correlate with work order data for accurate reporting.
Day-to-day coordination and management of operational activities relating to projects.
Maintain a thorough understanding of site design, equipment and current issues affecting projects.
Calculate and analyze energy losses and system performance incurred from equipment outages/underperformance and communicate impacts to relevant internal and external teams using internal tools and ad-hoc analyses.
Maintain a thorough understanding of analytical tools (e.g. Vitals and EPC Check Tool) and performance calculations.
Identify and assist with troubleshooting potential issues with analytical tools.
Using internal tools and new analytics, update and enhance existing reports for clients including Operation reports, Vitals, forecasting, Acceptance tests, and help support work prioritization for field teams based on criticality and occurrences of failures.
Identify operational issues and initiate problem resolution while working with OEM vendors, field service technicians, SCADA engineers, and other parties as needed.
Assist and support in data analytics and other tools development.
Review performance and operations reports randomly to ensure accuracy and to identify operational/performance issues within projects to ensure quality is maintained.
Track and understand contractual guarantee and conduct periodic meetings to assess projects risk and any possible improvements, remediations, or optimizations.
Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures for internal reference and training purposes.
Facilitate a strong working relationship with Performance Engineers, Analysts, and Jr. Analysts while prioritizing project ownership and project success.
Assist other team members in troubleshooting and identifying operational issues to initiate problem resolutions.
Facilitate project reviews and ad-hoc requests from clients as needed to address performance of projects. Escalate issues to management as needed.
Review CMMS work orders and/or commissioning documentation to review/monitor various root causes for equipment underperformance and failure modes.
Run and evaluate PV system energy models for Utility Scale Solar PV Projects using PVsyst or other modeling software as needed.
Verify project drawings such as site plans, system layout, one lines, cable management, MET layouts, PPC control narratives, and equipment installation details.
Conduct analyses on equipment such as inverters, PV modules, trackers, eBOS, BESS, or others during the commissioning & testing phase as well as during operation to advise both EPC & O&M teams.
Work closely with Performance Engineering Managers to ensure quality and timeliness is maintained for the deliverables related to the Performance Team.
Perform and track different simulations in the PVsyst such as:
Impacts of terrain
Horizon losses
Tree or external shading
Snow, Soiling and Spectral Losses
Others as needed
Validate performance modeling tools and assumptions through data analysis, field experiments, and other research methods.
Communicate modeling assumptions and performance metrics to estimators (internally facing) and clients/IEs (externally facing).
Assist engineering team with fine-tuning energy models and loss parameters for both construction and operational activities.
Conduct in-depth performance study and analysis of the plant to detect underlying issues such as tracker underperformance, soiling, degradation, string failures, fuse issues and more.
Work with internal Performance Team members to improve EPC Check Tool and software team for enhancements in the SOLV Vitals platform.
Attend technical conferences and seminars to stay relevant and understand newer means and methods of performance analytics and testing.
Develop content and materials for presentations and talks for the various trade shows and conferences to highlight SOLV’s capability.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
Master’s degree in engineering or another related technical field preferred.
5+ Years’ experience in renewable energy preferably PV solar technology.
3+ Years’ experience in data analytics preferred.
Familiar with various standards such as NEC code, IEC 61724, ASTM 2848, ASTM 2939, IEC 60904, IEC 61215, UL 1703 and so on.
Experience with SCADA platforms, historians, monitoring and analytics platforms like QoS, Bazefield, NorCal, PI Historian, Power Factors, Also Energy, and so on.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Office tools.
Experience with programming languages like Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java, and others preferred.
Ability to travel up to 20% of time.

Experience working for a diverse multi-disciplined company.
Strong communication skills to clearly articulate vision into an executable plan and clearly communicate details and thoughts to internal/external clients.
