Job summary

FedEx is seeking a Sr People Operations Partner to lead HR activities for assigned facilities, drive staffing and employee relations, and support business objectives across Bay Area locations.

The role requires 5+ years in HR with 2+ years in employee relations or HR Generalist work; a Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field is preferred. Travel to multiple sites may be required; and employment laws and FedEx policies guide daily work.

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related discipline; alternative: high school + 9 years HR experience.

  • Manage full cycle staffing including sourcing, interviewing, onboarding and equal opportunity efforts.
  • Develop and implement talent acquisition plans and partner with schools/communities.
  • Support programs to improve employee engagement and reduce turnover.
  • Guide pay review processes and advise on pay guidelines.

Job description

The Sr People Operations Partner will be responsible for leading day-to-day activities of the HR function for assigned facilities and will be assigned human resources related projects. The Sr People Operations Partner applies skill in selection/retention and employee relations techniques, an extensive knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures, and Federal and state laws regarding employment practices in order to support the organization. May provide guidance, consultation and share best practice on sourcing and employee relations to People Operations Partners.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HR practices, guidelines and regulations to monitor and provide advice regarding compliance with all employment laws, regulations, and FedEx policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Identifies and/or conducts investigations on employee relations issues in an appropriate and timely manner and provides appropriate recommendations. Provides advice to management and responds to employee inquiries.

  • Engages all levels of internal customers in assigned facilities in activities, meetings, special events and handles issues and questions

  • Leads the full cycle staffing development and execution process for talent acquisition, including applicant sourcing, recruiting, demonstrating good faith efforts in affirmative Action, pre-employment screening, interviewing and employee onboarding

  • Leads talent acquisition activities, including peak planning, and participating in outreach events. Builds and maintains effective relationships with schools and community-based organizations.

  • Partners with other professionals and managers to develop and/or facilitate programs to support business objectives, corporate programs and individual development.

  • Provide guidance in the development and execution of the talent acquisition plan.

  • Collaborates with operational business partners and others to develop strategic plans and actions to reduce voluntary turnover to goal and increase employee engagement.

  • Participates in engagement/retention events and compliance activities as assigned and follows-up/monitors action plans.

  • In conjunction with hiring manager, responsible for pay review recommendations and providing guidance to managers on pay guidelines and sound pay recommendations

  • Involved in projects, such as annual merit process, to deliver guidance and assistance to managers

  • Leads more complex special HR projects as assigned by the Manager

  • Partners with the Manager in order to facilitate the implementation of key HR initiatives for the district.

  • May be assigned to work at multiple locations; some locations requiring travel.

  • Other travel may be required based on work assignments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree/equivalent in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Liberal Arts, or a related discipline required.

  • In lieu of degree, the minimum education requirement may be met by a high school degree or GED, the five (5) years of minimum experience and an additional four (4) years of experience as an HR Generalist or in employee relations.

Actual pay is determined by several job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, including, but not limited to, experience relative to the job, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment. In California, the compensation listed reflects the range or rate of pay reasonably expected for this posted position upon hire. In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
