Job summary

Community Health Network seeks a Senior Patient Care Technician – Student Extern Resource team member in Indianapolis. You will provide direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision, assist with ADL's and phlebotomy, and support documentation and family education.

Applicants must be in nursing school with acceptance or current progress, and ready to learn in a fast-paced hospital setting across two locations. Training includes full-time day shifts and teamwork-focused care.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Accepted into Accredited Nursing School (must provide acceptance letter upon hire).
  • Completed at least the first semester of Nursing School (must provide official transcripts).
  • Ability to use a computer for documentation and work related purposes.
  • Strong written, verbal and nonverbal interpersonal and professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability for own actions.
  • Provides service in a willing and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
  • Able to take direction well, but also be self-directed and motivated.
  • Requires a high degree of responsibility and responsiveness.
  • Deal effectively with patients, visitors, situations, and other Care Team members, while maintaining emotional control.
  • Must be able to lift.
  • Must be available for one week of full-time day shift training.
  • Must be available to float to any unit at two hospital locations.

The Senior Patient Care Technician – Student Extern Resource team will be responsible for performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a RN. Direct patient care can include assisting with ADL’s, phlebotomy. Indirect care may include documentation, reinforcement of patient and family education. Collaborate with other team members to perform other unit services as directed.
