Job description

Forsyth County's Department of Parks and Recreation is looking to fill temporary part-time Sr. Park Assistants. This is a great opportunity to work outdoors at Mallard Lake and the Aquatic Center facility at Tanglewood Park.


Duties at the Aquatic Center include:

  1. Operating a cash register for entry to the pool and concession sales.
  2. Putting wristbands on paying pool patrons.
  3. Keeping work areas clean and stocked.
  4. Making sure pool patrons follow all rules and regulations.

Duties at Mallard Lake include:

  1. Assisting patrons with rental of paddle boats.
  2. Operating a cash register for the rental of boats and concession sales.
  3. Monitoring patrons on boats.
  4. Keeping the boats, dock, restrooms, and area clean at all times.

This position will also assist the Parks Operations Manager with scheduling other seasonal employees, checking in groups, and communicating with lifeguard and maintenance staff as needed.


This position will have work shifts at both Mallard Lake and the Aquatic Center operations throughout the duration of the operational season.


This is a seasonal position May through September. Working weekends, holidays, as well as weekdays is REQUIRED.

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  1. Knowledge of safety and other rules and regulations of the park.
  2. Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  3. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public.
  4. Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
  5. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

High School or GED graduation and one year of relevant experience are required. A valid driver's license is required. Previous experience in Parks and Recreation, Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid training are a plus. A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
