Job summary

DNOW is seeking a Sr. Painter/Blaster to prepare metal surfaces on pipes, tanks and vessels and apply coatings to meet thickness and finish requirements in industrial settings.

You will read project specs and SDS, operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment, perform quality checks, and follow OSHA safety protocols. SSPC/NACE knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial painting and abrasive blasting.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE standards and coating methods.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot blasting/painting equipment.
• Physical stamina for heights, confined spaces and varying weather.
• Safety-focused with adherence to OSHA guidelines.
• SSPC C7/C12 or NACE certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces on pipes, tanks, and vessels via abrasive blasting to remove rust and old coatings.
• Apply industrial coatings and paints using airless or conventional spray, or brush/roller methods to required thickness.
• Read and interpret job specs, SDS, and coating manufacturer instructions.
• Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment, including compressors and spray guns.
• Perform quality checks using wet/dry film gauges and adhesion testers.
• Follow safety protocols including confined spaces and fall protection.

The Sr. Painter/Blaster will be responsible for following paint procedure and apply coatings to specified requirements.

Job Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces on pipes, tanks, and vessels using abrasive blasting techniques (e.g., sand, grit, or shot blasting) to remove rust, scale, and old coatings.
• Apply industrial coatings and paints using airless spray, conventional spray, or brush/roller methods to meet specified thickness and finish requirements.
• Read and interpret job specifications, safety data sheets, and coating manufacturer instructions to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment, including compressors, spray guns, and ventilation systems.
• Perform quality checks using tools such as wet film gauges, dry film thickness meters, and adhesion testers.
• Follow strict safety protocols, including confined space entry, fall protection, and respiratory protection procedures.
• Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines without compromising quality or safety.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience in industrial painting and abrasive blasting, preferably in oil & gas, marine, or heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of surface preparation standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE) and coating application techniques.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot blasting and painting equipment.
• Physical stamina to work in demanding environments, including heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Safety-first mindset with a track record of following OSHA and industry safety guidelines.
• Certifications such as SSPC C7/C12, NACE, or equivalent (preferred but not required).
