Job summary

DistributionNOW is seeking a Sr. Painter/Blaster for the 2nd shift at our Tomball, TX facility.

The role involves surface preparation of pipes, tanks, and vessels using abrasive blasting, followed by applying industrial coatings with spray, brush, or roller to meet stringent thickness and finish specs. The ideal candidate has industrial painting/blasting experience, knowledge of SSPC/NACE standards, and the ability to operate blasting/painting equipment with a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in industrial painting and abrasive blasting in heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of SSPC/NACE standards and coating application techniques.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot blasting and painting equipment.
• Strong safety mindset and adherence to OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare metal surfaces on pipes, tanks, and vessels using abrasive blasting to remove rust, scale, and old coatings.
• Apply industrial coatings and paints using airless or conventional spray, brush, or roller methods to meet thickness/finish requirements.
• Read and interpret job specs, SDS, and coating manufacturer instructions for project standards.
• Operate and maintain blasting and painting equipment (compressors, spray guns, ventilation).
• Perform quality checks with wet film gauges, dry film thickness meters, and adhesion testers.
• Follow safety protocols including confined space entry, fall protection, and respiratory protection.
• Collaborate with supervisors and teammates to meet deadlines without compromising quality or safety.
