A Day in the Life:

In the position of Sr Packaging Development Engineer, you will provide hands on technical and administrative support across packaging innovation projects and day to day SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Bill of Materials (BOM) execution. Enable speed and consistency by ensuring packaging data, specifications, and development attributes are accurate, current, and execution ready, while also supporting tactical project needs for secondary packaging innovation. Make specification driven development real in practice, freeing manager level roles to focus on decision making, governance, and stakeholder leadership.

  • Support change management workflows by preparing change records and ensuring required fields, attachments, and approvals are complete.
  • Support secondary packaging innovation projects (corrugates, trays, pads, carriers) with hands on tasks including maintaining project documentation, timelines, and action logs and preparing materials for design reviews, trials, and readiness meetings.
  • Coordinate samples, mock ups, and trial materials with suppliers and internal teams. Assist with tracking open issues, risks, and follow ups related to packaging development and line readiness.
  • Capture learnings from trials and early production runs and route them to the appropriate manager for incorporation into standards or SPECS.
  • Assist with specification authoring and formatting, ensuring Critical to Quality characteristics (CTQs), materials, dimensions, and performance requirements are clearly captured and test methods and validation references are correctly linked.
  • Help maintain spec libraries, templates, and families to support reuse and standardization.
  • Support audits and data reviews by pulling reports and correcting gaps as directed.
  • Serve as a tactical point of contact for Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and Operations for requests for specs, drawings, packaging data and clarifications on current versions or applicability.
  • Ensure requested information is accurate and aligned with approved standards before release.
  • Identify recurring data issues, bottlenecks, or inefficiencies in SAP PLM workflows and Spec authoring or documentation practices. Propose improvements to templates, checklists, or standard work and support training efforts by helping update job aids, guides, and reference materials.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's Degree in the field of Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or other Engineering field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Product Development, Process Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in Project Management
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Microsoft PM or other project management system.
