Job summary

The City of Fort Worth’s Code Compliance – Animal Care and Control Division seeks a Senior Outbound Officer to support the shelter’s fostering program, transfer partners, events team and volunteer network. This role focuses on expanding programs, coordinating volunteers, and strengthening partnerships to enhance animal welfare and community service.

The position requires strong leadership, collaboration with partners, and a commitment to humane animal care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Three years or more of experience enforcing municipal ordinances, animal care and control, or related field.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Specialized training in animal control or animal welfare.
• Must obtain Animal Control Officer Basic Certification within six months of hire.
• Must obtain Euthanasia Certification within four months of hire.
• Pass drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Interact with customers, partners and stakeholders to resolve complaints and violations.
• Provide leadership and training to staff and volunteers on procedures and accuracy.
• Maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual records.
• Assist Supervisor with prioritizing and completing assignments; maintain safe working environment.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Perform administrative duties, shelter software, answering phones, providing public information, creating social media content for animal networking, and partner recruitment.
• Handle high levels of time sensitive emails and phone calls.
• Drive City vehicles to transport animals from multiple locations as assigned.

$24.67 - $30.83/hr. | $51,308- $64,135 annual compensation

A Senior Outbound Officer position is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance department, Animal Care and Control Division. This position will focus on assisting the shelter’s animal fostering program, transfer (local and out of state) partner network, events team, and volunteer program. Our Animal Care and Control department has hundreds of dedicated volunteers, fosters and partners who help the staff and animals with various tasks. Our foster, volunteer and transfer programs continue to grow and we are seeking an individual who can help us continue to strengthen and expand these programs.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/ GED
• Three (3) increasingly responsible experience enforcing municipal ordinances and codes, animal care and control, animal welfare, or related experience depending on assignment
• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Specialized training in animal control or animal welfare
• Must be able to obtain an Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services within six (6) months of hire
• Possession of or ability to obtain an Euthanasia Certification within four (4) months of hire
• Must pass Drug Screen, Physical

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in foster, rescue or volunteer service program or related field
• Two (2) years of municipal shelter experience
• One (1) year experience organizing and implementing special events, projects and social networking
• Bilingual skills

The Senior Outbound Officer job responsibilities include

• Interacting frequently with customers, partners and other stakeholders to facilitate resolution to complaints and violations
• Providing leadership and training to new and existing staff/volunteers to ensure use of proper procedures, methods, techniques and accuracy
• Maintaining daily, weekly, monthly and annual records
• Assist Supervisor with tasks such as prioritizing and seeing the completion of assignments; and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Performing administrative duties, which may include utilizing shelter software, answering phones, providing public information, creating social media content for animal networking, and partner recruitment

• Driving City vehicles to transport animals from multiple locations as assigned

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
