We have assembled a world-class team with a passion for renewable energy innovation and a commitment to advancing the transition to clean energy.

Job Purpose

The Senior Origination Manager will lead customer engagement, commercialization strategy and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations for Longroad Energy’s utility-scale solar and storage portfolios in the ERCOT, SPP, MISO, PJM, SERC, and ISO_NE markets. This role plays a key part in converting Longroad’s development-stage projects into contracted, revenue-generating assets, directly supporting the company’s commercial growth across the region. This role partners closely with project development to position Longroad’s development pipeline for successful offtake, and works cross-functionally with teams including interconnection, finance, engineering, construction, asset management, insurance, and legal to advance projects from origination through execution. The role is based remotely within the Eastern U.S. and requires travel of up to 30% to meet with customers and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor market fundamentals, customer demand trends, procurement activity, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and inform commercial strategy.
  • Support the preparation of commercial theses and presentations for Senior Management to inform the greenfield development and acquisition strategy.
Relationship Management & Business Development
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, load serving entities, and corporate off takers
  • Prepare marketing materials and initiate bilateral discussions about offtake opportunities with potential buyers.
Origination & Bid Management
  • Direct bid package preparation in response to offtake opportunity requests, including RFPs and RFIs for utility scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects for the East region
PPA Negotiation & Contract Execution
  • Lead the PPA negotiation process from proposal development, through initial term sheet stage to contract execution.
  • Act as single point of contact for PPA counterparty during negotiation, including leading all commercial discussions and facilitating resolution of all issues that arise during negotiation.
  • Work with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders (e.g., development, interconnection, finance, engineering, construction, battery energy storage, operations, asset management, insurance, legal) to create an issues list and develop the negotiation strategy.
  • Creatively structure commercial terms to reduce risk that is outside company’s control.
Governance & Reporting
  • Create thoughtful and polished memorandum to support the governance review process, strategy decks, and board presentations.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working in energy markets, or seven years’ experience working on utility-scale renewable energy projects generally.
  • Familiarity with key concepts in renewable project PPAs.
  • Partnership mindset.
  • Ability to read and understand legal documents and contracts.
  • Organized and detail oriented, but doesn’t lose sight of the big picture.
  • Experience coordinating with a cross‑functional team of experts on complex projects.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to meet with customers.
  • Safe driving record, valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Eastern U.S. residence strongly preferred, local relationships a plus.
  • Experience managing solar, wind, or battery PPA negotiations from bid stage through execution.
  • Expertise with Eastern U.S. power market design.
  • Experience evaluating quantitative implications of PPA provisions including curtailment, LMP basis, battery charging restrictions, and real‑time versus day‑ahead bidding strategies.
  • Familiarity with power procurement regulatory processes (e.g., IRPs, RPS, rate cases).
Characteristics Necessary for Success
  • Comfortable with fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • A focus on creating value for the company.
