Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of factory readiness from project kick-off through production launch and sustained operations.
  • Represent DPO to the Operations and Supply Chain Organization for each assigned program.
  • Create and manage detailed program schedules for site readiness and factory deliverables.
  • Manage, track, report, and forecast all costs for site build-out and factory deliverables.
  • Identify and elevate risks in manufacturing process development and validation schedules.
  • Oversee CM's coordination of contractors for infrastructure, power and data.
  • Lead or participate in daily standups during launches and line installations.
  • Drive operational improvements using Lean and Six Sigma practices.
  • Report program metrics and goals monthly to the organization.
  • Travel as needed for business needs.
  • Drive CM performance to meet targets through reviews and escalation.

Description

The Senior Operations Program Manager (OPM) is responsible for aligning all resources needed to support assigned programs at the DFW11 facility in Dallas, TX from Postponement Approval through End of Life. The OPM coordinates planning, material management, site technical, and Contract Manufacturer (CM) resources to deliver factory readiness, production launch, and sustained operations on time and on budget. The OPM partners with Site Technical Managers and Sunnyvale Product Managers to plan new product introductions, and drives cross-functional execution with Engineering, Quality, Automation, and the CM across every phase of the program lifecycle.

Key job responsibilities
  • Own all aspects of factory readiness from project kick-off through production launch and sustained operations.
  • Represent DPO to the Operations and Supply Chain Organization for each assigned program.
  • Create and manage detailed program schedules to drive readiness for all site build-out, fit-up, and factory deliverables.
  • Manage, track, report, and forecast all costs for site build-out, fit-up, and factory deliverables.
  • Identify and elevate risks in manufacturing process development, equipment delivery, quality control plans, and validation schedules.
  • Oversee the Contract Manufacturer's coordination of contractors and suppliers for installation and maintenance of power and data infrastructure, compressed air services, and other site equipment.
  • Lead or participate in daily standup meetings during program launches, control runs, and line installations.
  • Drive operational improvements using Lean and 6σ practices.
  • Report on program metrics and goals on a monthly basis to all levels of the organization.
  • Travel as needed to accomplish business needs.
  • Drive the Contract Manufacturer (CM) to meet production, quality, cost, and schedule targets through regular performance reviews, metric tracking, and escalation when goals are at risk.
  • Own Engineering Change Order (ECO) management for assigned programs, including receiving change notifications, assessing factory impact, ensuring production compliance, and informing the Materials Manager and Sr. Planner of BOM, process, and schedule implications.
A day in the life

The OPM is actively engaged in aligning resources and driving program execution at DFW11 across every stage from Postponement Approval through End of Life. On any given day, the OPM may be working with STMs and Sunnyvale Product Managers to plan capacity, material, and technology requirements for a new product introduction, defining manufacturing strategies and site readiness requirements for a project launch, or leading the daily standup during a production ramp to drive issue resolution and report progress against yield targets. During sustained operations, the OPM focuses on operational improvements and CM performance management. The OPM may also be presenting schedule or operational risks in an executive review, on the production floor with the Contract Manufacturer reviewing line performance, or finding creative solutions to complex program problems.

Devices Postponement Operations (DPO) is Amazon Lab126's team responsible for in-region postponement, customization, and pack-out of Amazon's innovative devices. We finalize the assembly of devices using automated assembly and pack-out lines so that Amazon can customize products to meet just-in-time demand. We enable Amazon to deliver the right configuration of a product at low cost and high quality.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration, or equivalent STEM field, or 4+ years of project management and implementation experience
  • 6+ years of defining and executing against program timeline & requirements experience
  • Experience in computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership, or experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
  • Can show strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with distributed teams
  • 5+ years of high volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments experience
  • Proven track record of managing complex programs with previous experience supporting the introduction of new products in a manufacturing or pack-out environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing or implementing integrated automation solutions such as material handling systems, high-speed packaging lines, or manufacturing lines
  • 5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience, or experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems and high-speed manufacturing
  • Experience presenting complex ideas in writing in the form of authoring white papers, proposals, or other formal strategy documents
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or experience in project management
  • Experience writing and publishing technical documents or equivalent
  • 6σ Certification, Yellow Belt or higher.
  • Master's Degree (of Science, preferred) in Operations, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience managing Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) where the candidate influenced execution without direct authority over the workforce.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
