Job summary

Compucom Systems, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Networking Engineer to join our Minneapolis team onsite. You will lead onsite client communications, manage installations, upgrades, and office relocations, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

The role requires hands-on experience with structured cabling and IP networking, strong customer relationships, and the ability to travel daily within the Minneapolis area. We offer comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with structured cabling, network hardware installations, and low-voltage infrastructure projects in commercial, campus, or data center environments.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and serve as onsite client representative, resolving or de-escalating issues professionally.
  • Working knowledge of BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA standards and fundamental IP networking concepts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders and in active construction environments, and terminate/test copper and fiber cabling.
  • Willingness to travel daily to Minneapolis client sites and occasional weekend cutover deployments.
  • Experience reading construction documents and performing site assessments for network installations and upgrades.
  • Minnesota Power Limited Technician License preferred; BICSI Technician, CompTIA Network+, Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Axis certifications are highly desirable.

  • Lead multiple concurrent low-voltage infrastructure projects by coordinating schedules, site readiness, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Perform installation, termination, testing, and certification of Cat6A and fiber cabling, adhering to TIA/EIA standards and local codes.
  • Review blueprints and construction docs, perform takeoffs, and develop project estimates and bids.
  • Install, configure, and support network infrastructure including wireless APs, switches, and cabling across sites.
  • Monitor progress, document issues, manage punch lists, and report status and risks to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot network and cabling issues, support cutovers and commissioning, ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.

We’re looking for a Sr. Networking Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities

This position is onsite in Minneapolis, MN

  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for clients, managing customer relationships, project communications, and stakeholder expectations throughout installations, upgrades, and office relocations.
  • Lead multiple concurrent low-voltage infrastructure projects by coordinating schedules, site readiness, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Perform hands‑on installation, termination, testing, and certification of Cat6A and fiber optic cabling, while maintaining compliance with TIA/EIA standards, safety requirements, and local building codes.
  • Conduct site surveys, review blueprints and construction documents, perform material and labor takeoffs, and develop project estimates and bids.
  • Install, configure, and support network infrastructure including wireless access points, IP cameras, network switches, structured cabling, and end‑user workstation equipment.
  • Monitor project progress, document issues and resolutions, manage punch lists, and provide regular status reporting, risk assessments, and project updates to stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot network and cabling issues, support equipment cutovers and commissioning activities, and ensure successful project completion through quality assurance and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with structured cabling, network hardware installations, and low‑voltage infrastructure projects in commercial, campus, or data center environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships, serve as an onsite client representative, and professionally resolve or de‑escalate project issues.
  • Working knowledge of BICSI, NEC, TIA/EIA standards, and fundamental IP networking concepts.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., work on ladders and in active construction environments, and terminate/test color‑coded copper and fiber cabling.
  • Available to travel daily to client sites throughout the Minneapolis metro area and participate in occasional weekend cutover and deployment activities.
  • Experience reading construction documents, performing site assessments, and supporting network infrastructure installations and upgrades.
  • Minnesota Power Limited Technician License preferred; BICSI Technician, CompTIA Network+, Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Axis, or related industry certifications are highly desirable.
Wage Range

The annual starting salary for this position is between $75,000 – $100,000 annually. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
