Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a senior Network Security Engineer to design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto firewalls with Panorama integration, plus ZIA/ZPA and Aruba ClearPass implementations. This is a contract role based in Chicago with hybrid onsite expectations, including a requirement to be near the city for in-office days.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in network security, strong TCP/IP knowledge, and familiarity with NIST/ISO CIS controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Info Security, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in network security engineering roles.
• Hands-on with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, ZIA/ZPA, Aruba ClearPass.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, and network protocols.
• Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto firewalls with policy creation, threat prevention, and traffic analysis.
• Administer and optimize ZIA and ZPA environments.
• Configure Aruba ClearPass for network access control and endpoint compliance.
• Monitor traffic and security alerts; respond to threats in real time.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce policies and ensure compliance.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and mitigation recommendations.
• Maintain documentation of network security architecture and procedures.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.

Description

Must sit near Salisbury, NC or downtown Chicago. If to be hired full time, the engineer will have to go onsite 3 days a week. Contractors can sit remote but they want people close enough to come in.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including policy creation, threat prevention, and traffic analysis.
• Administer and optimize Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) environments.
• Configure and maintain Aruba ClearPass for network access control, authentication, and endpoint compliance.
• Monitor network traffic and security alerts to identify and respond to threats in real-time.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce security policies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Maintain documentation for network security architecture, configurations, and procedures.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network-related security events.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama
• Zscaler cloud security solutions (ZIA/ZPA)
• Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager and Guest Access
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, and network protocols.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications such as:
• PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)
• Zscaler Certified Professional
• Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP)
• Experience with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection platforms.
• Knowledge of scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
