Job description

Overall Purpose:

The Sr. Network Security Engineer designs, deploys, and manages network security infrastructure, focusing on proxy, data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, Intrusion Prevention and Detection System (IDS/IPS). The role involves collaboration with audit and compliance teams and performing control testing to ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions:
  1. Influences the design, implementation, and management of enterprise proxy and DLP solutions.
  2. Consults with governance, audit, and compliance teams to meet security and regulatory requirements.
  3. Develops or responds to requirements for new security tools.
  4. Implements and executes control tests to validate security measures.
  5. Monitors and maintains network security tools' performance and resolves issues.
  6. Ensures tools operate with secure and stable code.
  7. Maintains detailed technical documentation.
  8. Contributes to security policies and procedures.
  9. Acts as primary and secondary on-call in rotation for 24x7 response.
  10. Mentors staff on business practices and technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's or 2-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physical Science.
  2. At least 7 years of IT experience.
  3. At least 5 years of IT security experience with vendor tools like Netskope, Palo Alto, Proofpoint, Microsoft.
  4. Proficient in scripting languages such as bat, bash, python, PowerShell.
  5. Knowledge of networking concepts including routing, NAT, firewall, etc.
  6. Experience with encryption technologies.
  7. Expertise in security architectures for OS, applications, networks, databases.
  8. Experience with proxies, MFA, log management, vulnerability management.
  9. Experience in financial institutions and understanding of standards like PCI DSS, NYDFS, or SOX.
  10. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  11. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  12. Analytical skills for troubleshooting and recommendations.
  13. Familiarity with Zero Trust and SASE frameworks.
  14. Background check and drug test required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Level 3 proficiency in bash/PowerShell scripting.
  2. Extensive experience with Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
  3. Certifications such as CISSP, PCNSE, SC-200, NCCSA.
  4. Unix/Windows admin experience (6-9 years).
  5. Knowledge of standards like PCI DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, NYDFS.
Physical Requirements:

Office environment, primarily sedentary, extensive computer use, sitting for about four hours, occasional standing, walking, reaching. Ability to lift 10 pounds, good vision and dexterity, effective communication skills. Must perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

Compensation:

In Phoenix, AZ / Chicago, IL: $145,000 - $180,000 per year.

In New York, NY / San Francisco, CA: $160,000 - $200,000 per year.

Eligible for incentive plans and benefits. Compensation varies based on multiple factors including experience, skills, and location.
