We are seeking a Senior Design & Integration Engineer to lead the integration, optimization, and continuous improvement of advanced automation systems at one of the biggest footwear brands in the world. You’ll ensure seamless orchestration between WMS, WES, and WCS platforms and material handling systems.

You will play a pivotal role in system design, data flow optimization, dashboard creation, user training, and end-to-end operational support—from concept through go-live.

Core Responsibilities

System Design & Integration

  • Architect material handling solutions by converting business requirements into mechanical system designs and integrated software workflows (WMS/WES/WCS).
  • Translate operational data into actionable design specifications, including process rates, throughput requirements, and equipment selection.
  • Define simulation requirements, create Description of Operations, and author system architecture documentation to support detailed design and integration efforts.
  • Lead cross-functional integration of automation hardware and software systems, ensuring seamless performance across WMS, WES, WCS, and MHE.
  • Troubleshoot Material Handling Systems as needed, leveraging knowledge of these and upstream systems such as the WMS.

Engineering Project Leadership

  • Oversee project engineering efforts from design through commissioning, including vendor coordination, technical sign-offs, and post-launch support.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to evaluate new technologies and ensure alignment with strategic automation roadmaps.

Systems Enhancement & Continuous Improvement

  • Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders to capture enhancement requests and define new system requirements, ensuring alignment with operational goals and technical capabilities.
  • Develop clear business cases and detailed functional requirements for system enhancements, supporting prioritization and execution by internal and external development teams.
  • Review vendor scopes of work, technical proposals, and implementation plans to ensure alignment with system standards and operational needs.

Training, SOPs, and Change Management

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training materials (including video content).
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to operations teams on the effective use of system tools (e.g., Pyramid Director WCS), reinforcing best practices and promoting operational ownership.
  • Support change management initiatives tied to system upgrades, new features, and process standardization.

Business Intelligence & Dashboard Development

  • Collaborate with users to define and implement dashboards that visualize key performance metrics, operational trends, and system health indicators.
  • Drive adoption of data tools that empower end-users to self-serve insights and make informed decisions.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Systems Engineering (or a related technical discipline) required.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Management, or Business a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in MHE design, automation systems, or industrial engineering within distribution, fulfillment, or manufacturing environments.
  • 2+ years as a lead designer or technical integrator for large-scale MHE systems.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse software ecosystems, including WMS (e.g. Manhattan), WES, WCS (e.g. Pyramid), and PLC-based control systems.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools, AutoCAD, and data analysis platforms (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI).
  • Exceptional communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience influencing operations, IT, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive multiple complex projects from concept through execution in a fast-paced environment.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 25% travel is expected to support site launches, integration efforts, system testing, and team training across multiple distribution centers.

Salary Range

  • $150,000 - $180,000/year.
