Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer to join the Advanced Manufacturing Development Team in a hybrid setting at Middletown, PA.

The role focuses on stamping, molding, and assembly optimization, designing and validating tooling and processes to meet TE's quality and production standards. You will collaborate with product development, lead process improvements, and support research and development for new equipment while contributing to TE's global

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent; 5+ years in stamping/die engineering preferred.
  • Experience in machine/equipment design and manufacturing deployment.
  • Proficient with 2-D/3-D modeling (Creo preferred) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new processes, document and qualify them.
  • Collaborate with Product Development to ensure design for manufacturability.
  • Lead FMEA reviews and drive data-driven process optimization.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for die fabrication.
  • Support sustaining manufacturing with cost-saving projects.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Sr. Manufacturing and Process Development Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Development Team. TE Connectivity's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding, or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.

Job Requirements
  • New process development, including process documentation and qualification
  • Collaborate with Product Development Engineering to ensure designs meet cost objectives and are driven by design for manufacturability principles
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical recommendations
  • Support Project Management Office in project quoting and manufacturing location selection to improve margin, OI, and ROI
  • Participate and lead FMEA reviews
  • Analyze process/equipment capability and performing DOEs to establish optimal processes and equipment
  • Carry out process improvements and problem solving through root cause analysis
  • Drive process optimization with data driven decisions
  • Coordinate with suppliers and machine shops for die fabrication.
  • Support the Sustaining Manufacturing teams in the identification and execution of savings projects for new and existing product lines
  • Initiate/manage capital equipment projects; specifying and implementing new manufacturing equipment including RFQ, FAT, SAT, Installation, and Training
  • Resolve tool and design problems as related to the stamping of components
  • Apply knowledge to the design, build, and procurement of stamping dies and auxiliary equipment to meet TE quality and production standards
  • Work in a hands‑on environment being directly responsible for engineering sample builds, design verification samples, and qualification product
What your background should look like
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience is preferred or 5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant as a stamping/die engineer
  • Experience with machine and equipment design, development, and manufacturing deployment
  • High level of competency with 2-D and 3-D modeling software, Creo preferred but not required
  • Proficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Knowledge in statistical software packages such Minitab preferred but not required
  • Sound project management skills
  • Working knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools
  • Understanding of material and conversion savings calculations
  • Capability to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment with multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment
  • A self-starter that requires minimal supervision
  • GB or BB in Lean Design for Six Sigma or DMAIC preferred

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $102,700 - $154,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
