The Skeletal Conditions (SC) Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Senior MSL supports the scientific and business interests of BioMarin by engaging with thought leaders in academic and clinical medicine at various levels, providing scientific exchange and gathering strategic insights. MSLs are the primary communicators of BioMarin science within a specific geography and are viewed as peer scientific experts in their therapeutic area.

This role involves identifying investigators, supporting clinical trials, participating in scientific meetings, and serving as a scientific resource internally and externally. The position reports to the Senior Director, SC Medical Unit within the Global Medical Affairs organization. The territory is focused on the WESTERN U.S. (WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, AK, HI), and candidates should be based within this territory.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Execute medical plan and tactics within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and refine the territory plan to support medical objectives.
  • Educate healthcare providers about disease states and BioMarin products.
  • Serve as a medical/scientific resource and answer inquiries.
  • Engage in scientific exchange and provide feedback on clinical trends.
  • Identify and communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain expertise in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborate with medical, research, and commercial teams.
  • Support clinical trials and investigator-initiated research.
  • Participate in scientific meetings and journal clubs.
  • Support sales and marketing teams with scientific resources.
  • Manage projects and mentor team members.
  • Develop a professional growth plan and stay updated on market trends.
  • Ensure compliance with operational guidelines.
Education and Experience:

MSL

  • BA/BS in life or health sciences; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience; 1+ year as MSL preferred.
  • Experience in rare genetic diseases or skeletal dysplasia preferred.
  • Experience in product launch and development preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulations impacting Medical Affairs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proven team player with project management skills.
  • Ability to work virtually and travel (50-70%).

Sr. MSL

  • In addition to MSL criteria, advanced communication, problem-solving, and strategic skills.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience and 3+ years as MSL preferred.
  • Project leadership experience preferred.
