Position Summary

The Senior Medical Affairs Specialist role in the Global Medical Affairs & Customer Enablement (MACE) team at Illumina, Inc. is responsible for supporting members of a large and geographically dispersed team to execute prioritized annual business goals in relation to this team's mandate to oversee provision of medical education, compliance with legal safeguards, and budgets. This position reports to the Global Medical Affairs Core Operations Leader.

This individual will support the Global Medical Affairs Core Operations Leader with strategic planning and execution related to key MACE team needs. This individual will partner and align with geographically focused and clinical business segment-specific MACE team members, and other cross-functional partners, to drive global tactical execution of operational plans and compliant processes.

This position requires an experienced professional with established scientific credibility to interact with internal and external stakeholders. This position also requires the ability to develop and enforce compliant standard operating procedures, strong analytical skills, a passion for driving efficiency, and being a good steward of Illumina resources. Success will require excellent oral and written communication skills, strong scientific knowledge, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to compile and synthesize medical and scientific information.

Position Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of processes and tools to increase efficiency and contribute to the operational excellence of MACE across all programs.
  • Partners with the MACE Core Operations team to drive tactical execution of education and sponsorship plans.
  • Supports the MACE Core Operations team members with maintaining and refining processes for compliant engagements with healthcare professionals (HCPs), government officials (GOs), and other external parties.
  • Collaborates with various groups at Illumina engaging with HCPs/GOs to facilitate proper engagements, including but not limited to HCP screening/vetting, contracting of agreements, and managing HCP relationships.

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years' industry experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare-related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs or Project Management
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Ability to work in a team situation
  • A proactive and analytical thinker with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to independently deliver quality results in a timely manner

Preferred Experience/Education

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Sr Medical Affairs Specialist role based in the United States of America is: $105,600 - $158,400. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
