Job summary

Husky Technologies in Milton, Vermont, is seeking a senior mechanical design engineer to lead end-to-end product development and mechanical analysis. You will transform concepts into robust solutions, mentored by cross-functional teams, with a strong emphasis on innovation, safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Master of Science preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Strong background in mechanical design, material selection, thermal and stress analysis.
• Excellent communication in English and leadership abilities.

• Forecast industry and market trends to help establish product roadmaps.
• Identify evolutions in key technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
• End to end engineering from idea to launch with prototype validation.
• Perform numerical analyses to interpret physical phenomena.
• Lead first principles research and technology scouting.
• Assist Business Development with developing cases for new markets.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate innovations.
• Generate and present technical material to executives and customers.
• Provide technical leadership, managing timelines, resources and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Forecast industry and market trends to help establish product and technology roadmaps
• Identify and adapt evolutions in key technologies to maintain the competitive advantage of Husky products
• End to end engineering from idea generation and prototype development through proof-of-concept validation, product development to eventual launch
• Employ numerical analyses to better interpret and predict poorly understood physical phenomena
• First principle research, including bibliographic searches and technology scouting
• Assist Business Development teams, formulating business cases to justify development of new markets
• Work closely with a team of cross-functional domain experts in Product Development and Validation teams to integrate innovations and new technologies into practical solutions
• Generating and presenting technical material, clearly and concisely to Executive teams and customers
• Technical lead for projects, managing project timelines, resources and budgets
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Master of Science preferred
• 10+ years of experience in related industrial machine design or product development role
• Strong background in mechanical design, including material selection, thermal and stress finite element analysis
• Ability to break down complex problems into functional subsystems, identifying the key parameters that drive performance
• Full competency in 3D CAD software modeling and drafting
• Experience with sensor instrumentation, data analysis and machine learning an asset
• Knowledge in polymer science, hot runners, mold design and injection molding preferred
• Ability to use science and systematic methodologies as practical tools to find meaningful technical solutions
• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor team members
• Work well in progressive team environment
• Strong time and project management skills, and ability to delegate tasks and projects
