  • BSME from a four-year college or university required.
  • MSME strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering environment or comparable field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, analysis, and testing efforts for advanced hydrogen propulsion systems and related aerospace structures.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for R&D and development projects, assisting leadership in executing hydrogen initiatives.
  • Systems engineering and design integration concept development for helicopters, eVTOL and unmanned aircraft.
  • Develop and execute project plans, including test plans, vehicle assembly procedures, and system validation processes.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges related to mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain engineering deliverables such as designs, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Perform static stress analyses on aerospace hardware and ground/test support equipment.
  • Coordinate with external research partners and suppliers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and standards compliance.

Job description

Salary Range: $120,000.00 To $140,000.00 Annually

The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Piasecki Aircraft Corporation is responsible for leading the research, planning, design, and testing of advanced mechanical and aerospace systems. This role serves as the primary technical lead for Hydrogen Fuel Cell eVTOL and UAS engineering projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer directs, coordinates, and participates in the systems engineering, design, fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical products and systems while assisting leadership in executing current and future hydrogen initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the design, analysis, and testing efforts for advanced hydrogen propulsion systems and related aerospace structures.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for current and future R&D and development projects, assisting the Chief of Operations and Chief of Product in executing hydrogen initiatives.
  • Systems Engineering and design integration concept development for helicopters, eVTOL and unmanned aircraft.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including test plans, vehicle assembly procedures, and system validation processes.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges related to mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain critical engineering deliverables such as designs, technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Perform static stress analyses on aerospace hardware and ground and test support equipment.
  • Coordinate and interface with external research partners and suppliers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and compliance with industry standards.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and system integration for aerospace applications.
  • Rotorcraft structures, drive train design / analysis and systems engineering hands on experience
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems (e.g., SolidWorks, FEA software).
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abacus and MATLAB).
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanics, materials science, structural dynamics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to Travel:Conduct travel to customer and test site location in remote and austere locations
  • Communication: Strong verbal, written and communications skills
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / CLEARANCES:
  • BSME from a four-year college or university required.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an engineering environment or comparable field.
