Job summary

Techtronic Industries (TTi) seeks a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with product design experience to develop new concepts for power tools and related products. You will design components and assemblies, build prototypes, and collaborate with teams in Anderson, SC and internationally.

Strong 3D CAD skills, mechanism design, GD&T knowledge, and hands-on prototype building are essential. Knowledge of materials strength and basic dynamics will support high-volume, cost-efficient product development.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering is required.
• 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Proven 3D CAD experience and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with plastics molding, screws, powder metal, and forming processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of components and assemblies to meet design guides, cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Build functional prototypes and test fixtures to prove designs and concepts.
• Communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical team members in Anderson, SC and internationally.
• Accountable for technical elements of product execution including integration of components, material selection, packaging, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Drive quality compliance using tools such as FMEA, DOE, design for manufacture, inspection, CAD analysis, and 3D design tools.

Job Description

Techtronic Industries (TTi) is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with product design experience who will be responsible for design and development of new concepts related to new and mature products. TTi is an industry leading consumer products company with core product lines in handheld and benchtop power tools, outdoor products and cleaning products. This is position will provide product engineers with concepts and designs that make power tools more compact, more powerful, and more efficient.

Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanism design such as bearings, shafts, gears, components, and assemblies are essential. Hands-on experience building functional prototypes is essential. An educated understanding of strength of materials is required. Knowledge of finite element and basic dynamics is a plus.

Position is on-premise, but some remote work is currently required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead the design of components and assemblies to meet market driven design guides and fulfill cost, timing, reliability, and high-volume manufacturing as related to consumer products.


• Build functional prototypes and test fixtures to prove designs and concepts.


• Communicate technical details and concepts to both technical and non-technical team members in Anderson, SC and internationally.


• Accountable for technical elements of product execution including integration of complicated components and assemblies, material selection, packaging and safety, as well as, regulatory and standards compliance.


• Drive quality compliance as related to project work. Utilize appropriate design development tools and techniques such as Value and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Design of experiments, design for manufacture, assembly and inspection, CAD analysis and 3D Design Tools.
