Job summary

Kelso Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer in the St. Louis area. You will develop detailed HVAC piping and sheet metal designs, create constructible Revit models, and coordinate with engineers to ensure standards are met.

Qualifications

• Experience in layout and design of HVAC piping and sheet metal systems.
• Ability to develop detailed constructible designs in Revit to project standards.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and design HVAC piping systems (chilled water, heating hot water, condensate, steam).
• Lay out and design sheet metal ductwork systems (supply, return, exhaust, process air).
• Produce construction drawings from Revit models; ensure designs meet standards.
• Mentor junior designers on piping and sheet metal best practices.
• Participate in coordination meetings and track design issues to closeout.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer with 10+ years of experience in the layout and design of HVAC piping and sheet metal systems. You’ll develop detailed, constructable designs in Revit, coordinate them in Navisworks and take projects from concept through installation. You’ll partner with our engineers, guide junior designers, and make sure every design meets NDBS standards in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lay out and design HVAC piping systems, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water, condenser water, steam, refrigeration and condensate
• Lay out and design sheet metal ductwork systems, including supply, return, exhaust and process air
• Develop detailed, constructable designs in Revit to project and company standards
• Run clash detection in Navisworks and resolve conflicts with other trades
• Produce construction drawings, plans, sections and details directly from the Revit model
• Size and route piping and ductwork with engineers, accounting for access, supports, hangers and installation sequencing
• Review designs and models from junior designers, and mentor them on piping and sheet metal best practices
• Participate in coordination meetings and track design issues through to closeout
