The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will be a member of the Amazon Leo Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on the design of the various mechanical ground support equipment (GSE), including assembly, alignment, and testing fixturing and tooling. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in performing design, analysis, sizing, and selection of mechanical mechanisms and components for development and production environments.
This is a hands‑on role for a highly collaborative individual that combines superb technical analytical, and documentation capabilities to convert analytic trade studies to a qualified physical design, while optimizing to support high volume production and meeting cross discipline requirements.
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
As a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer, your tasks would vary between fixturing and tooling design, design reviews, building and qualifying. This is a cross‑functional role requiring leadership skills, and constant interaction with multiple HW/SW design teams and end‑users. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You will be expected to work with a team of top‑notch engineers and collaborate with multiple other spacecraft design and integration teams. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, working in a fast‑paced work environment, with a high degree of autonomy and relish the idea of solving problems that haven’t been solved at scale before. The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
