MicroVision is seeking a Senior Materials Planner to own end-to-end material planning for key hardware product lines. You will translate demand forecasts and production schedules into actionable supply plans, ensuring material availability on time and at the right cost.

The role requires 5+ years in materials or supply planning within manufacturing, with strong ERP/MRP experience and BOM/inventory management expertise.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Own the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process for assigned product lines and convert demand forecasts and production schedules into purchase requirements and supply plans.
  • Ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing requirements while maintaining targeted inventory levels and cash utilization goals.
  • Analyze supply and demand at the part-number level, proactively identifying shortages, excess inventory, allocation risks, and capacity constraints.
  • Develop and execute mitigation plans to prevent line-down situations and customer delivery impacts.
  • Manage supplier commitments and delivery schedules for long-lead and constrained components (semiconductors, optics, electronics).
  • Monitor inventory health, inventory turns, safety stock levels, excess/obsolete inventory exposure, and accuracy.
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives that improve service levels while reducing working capital requirements.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management to ensure material readiness for NPI.

MicroVision a leader in advanced perception solutions for industrial, security and defense, and automotive applications, is seeking a strategic, analytical, and execution-oriented Senior Materials Planner to own end-to-end material planning and availability for key hardware product lines. This role is responsible for translating customer demand, forecasts, and production schedules into actionable supply plans while ensuring the right materials are available at the right time and cost.

You will work cross-functionally with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Operations leadership to drive material readiness, optimize inventory investment, and support business growth.

RESONSIBILIES
Material Planning & Supply Assurance
  • Own the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process for assigned product lines and commodities, converting demand forecasts and production schedules into purchase requirements and supply plans
  • Ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing requirements while maintaining targeted inventory levels and cash utilization goals
  • Analyze supply and demand at the part-number level, proactively identifying shortages, excess inventory, allocation risks, and capacity constraints
  • Develop and execute mitigation plans to prevent line-down situations and customer delivery impacts
Supplier & Inventory Management
  • Manage supplier commitments and delivery schedules for long-lead and constrained components, including semiconductors, optics, custom electronics, and mechanical assemblies
  • Lead supplier communications related to demand changes, forecast commitments, expedites, recovery plans, and capacity planning
  • Monitor inventory health, inventory turns, safety stock levels, excess and obsolete inventory exposure, and inventory accuracy
  • Drive inventory optimization initiatives that improve service levels while reducing working capital requirements
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Program Management teams to ensure material readiness across production and new product introduction (NPI) activities
  • Collaborate with Engineering on BOM changes, product revisions, and engineering change orders (ECOs) to minimize supply chain disruption
  • Support manufacturing scheduling and production sequencing decisions based on material availability and supply constraints
  • Coordinate resolution activities for non-conforming, quarantined, or obsolete inventory
Planning Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain planning master data within ERP systems, including lead times, lot sizes, reorder parameters, safety stock settings, and sourcing rules
  • Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) by providing supply assessments, scenario modeling, inventory projections, and risk analysis
  • Develop reporting and dashboards to monitor planning performance and material readiness
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, ERP utilization, supplier performance, and overall supply chain resiliency
Required Qualificatoins
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Materials Planning, Production Planning, Supply Planning, or Supply Chain Management within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting complex hardware, electronics, electromechanical products, automotive systems, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or high-tech manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of:
    • MRP planning principles
    • BOM management
    • Inventory control
    • Lead-time planning
    • Capacity and supply planning
    • Safety stock methodologies
  • Proven ability to manage supplier performance and resolve critical material shortages under tight timelines
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills, including forecasting, modeling, reporting, and inventory analysis
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • APICS / ASCM Certification (CPIM, CSCP, or CLTD)
  • Experience planning supply for semiconductors, optical systems, PCBA assemblies, sensors, or other allocation-sensitive electronic components
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and product ramp activities
  • Experience in automotive, autonomous systems, lidar, electronics, defense, aerospace, or advanced technology manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Experience working in global supply chain environments with international suppliers and contract manufacturers
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This role is based onsite at MicroVision's Orlando FL facility and requires regular presence on the production floor as well as in an office setting
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. and time spent standing or walking through manufacturing areas should be expected
