Job summary

Primary Talent Partners is seeking a Sr Materials Engineer for a medical device client in Mounds View, MN. This 24-month contract offers a path for extension and a W2 arrangement with no PTO or benefits beyond ACA-compliant options.

You will analyze and develop metallic, nonmetallic, and composite materials, applying chemistry, physics, and material behavior to design specifications, processing, and quality standards. Strong lab experience is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or related field required.
  • Lab work experience required.
  • Nice to have exposure to medical device environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing, materials characterization, and failure analysis to support product development and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive technical solutions and business objectives.
  • Review technical documentation and extract critical information needed.

Job description

Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Sr Materials Engineer with our medical device client in Mounds View, MN. This is a 24-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay:

$45.00 - $55.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Description:
  • Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
  • Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, nonmetallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.
  • Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
  • May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree > Bachelor of Science > Bachelor of Science Material Science Engineering
  • Lab work experience
Nice to have:
  • 1-3 years of medical/clinical experience or exposure
  • Bachelor's Degree > Bachelors Degree Polymer Science and Engineering
  • Masters Degree > Masters Degree Materials Science & Engineering
Top 3 skills sets required:
  1. Knowledge of materials and interactions with the body and environment and ability to correlate material properties with product performance to predict various failure modes
  2. Knowledge of international and domestic regulations associated with Materials of Concern, Biocompatibility and Hazardous Substances((e.g. RoHS, EU MDR, California Prop. 65, ISO 10993)
  3. Knowledge and experience of Materials Characterization Techniques
3 main responsibilities/day to day activities required for this role:
