Job summary

Amazon Ads Marketing seeks a Sr. Marketing Communications Architect to marry high‑craft narratives with scalable systems.

You’ll craft leadership communications, design audience maps, and own editorial calendars while building automation for recurring digests and program updates. You will lead the narrative strategy for major org changes, develop templates for self-serve campaigns, and collaborate with leadership to ensure every output scales with the organization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Write, produce, and deliver leadership communications — town hall scripts, org announcements, program milestone messages, and change narratives
• Produce recurring communications — weekly/biweekly digests, leadership roundups, and program updates
• Craft communications that respect the medium: you design for the format and you write for the audience
• Partner with the VP and Directors on what the org hears, when, through which channel, and from whom — you own the editorial calendar and deliver against it
• Own and operate the organization's primary communication channels: the org-wide Slack channel, the VP-level distribution alias (500+ recipients), and the sub-channel ecosystem across multiple marketing sub-orgs
• Design the audience map: who needs to know what, how granular does segmentation need to be, and which channels serve which audiences
• Establish and enforce governance for each channel — what belongs where, posting cadence, who has send access, signal-to-noise standards
• Audit and rationalize existing distribution lists, aliases, and channels — eliminate redundancy, close dead channels, ensure coverage without overload
• Own the narrative strategy for the org: tell the story of what's happening here — new programs, operating model changes, cultural shifts — in a way that builds understanding and forward momentum
• Develop frameworks for format selection: when to use a Slack post vs. email vs. All Hands topic vs. async video vs. wiki update
• Create templates and playbooks that enable Directors and program leads to self-serve on routine communications — while you own the high-stakes, high-craft pieces
• Balance the "communication mix" — leadership messages, program updates, cultural moments, operational information — so the org isn't drowning or starving
• Build the systems that make recurring communications self-sustaining: automated distribution, templated formats, scheduled cadences
• Implement AI-native approaches where appropriate — automated drafting for routine comms, intelligent routing, content personalization by audience segment
• Own measurement: engagement signals, feedback loops, read-through indicators that tell you what's landing and what's noise
• Every piece of work you produce should leave behind infrastructure: a template, a channel improvement, a governance rule. The work compounds.
• Own the "pull" side of communications — making organizational knowledge accessible so people can find what they need, when they need it, without waiting for someone to push it to them

We need a marketing communications expert to architect that future through well-crafted communications and systems — bringing our marketing org together around our shared vision and business priorities.

To engage and inspire our marketing org, you'll develop the communications strategy, including town halls and narratives, crafting org change announcements, and producing a weekly digest while simultaneously building the channels, governance, and automation that make those outputs sustainable and scalable over time.

This is a hybrid of creator and systems architect. You produce high-quality communications — leadership narratives, org announcements, digests, cascades — and you build the infrastructure that makes that production repeatable, measurable, and increasingly automated.

Your starting questions are: Who needs to know this? How will they find out? How should it be positioned for that medium? And should this be pushed to people, or should it be available for them to pull when they need it? Then you both craft the communication and build the mechanism so it's easier next time.

The expectation is that you produce and architect from the start — crafting high-quality communications while building the systems that make each subsequent one faster. Over time, the mechanisms carry more of the routine load, freeing you to focus on work that requires real craft: high-stakes narratives, sensitive changes, and strategic storytelling that can't be templatized.

Key job responsibilities

Communications Production

You are:

• A producer and architect: You write the town hall narrative and build the system that makes next quarter's town hall faster to produce. You don't choose between doing the work and building the infrastructure — you do both, and every piece of output leaves behind something reusable.
• An audience-first communicator: Your instinct isn't "what do I write?" — it's "who needs to know, how will they find out, and what does this need to be in that medium?" You start with the human on the receiving end and work backwards.
• A storyteller with range: You can write a sensitive org change announcement that lands with clarity instead of anxiety, a scannable digest that people actually read, and a town hall arc that holds attention for 45 minutes. You adapt your craft to the format — not everything is a memo.
• AI-native: You use AI to accelerate production, automate distribution, and measure impact. You have a point of view on what should be mechanized (routine digests, distribution, measurement) vs. what requires human craft (narrative framing, sensitive messaging, audience design).
• Governance-minded: You understand that communication channels need intentional design to stay valuable at scale. You establish clear guidelines, make them easy to follow, and evolve them as the org grows.
• Comfortable across altitudes: You partner with the VP on the narrative strategy for a major org change and produce the Slack post that announces it on Monday morning.
• Organizationally fluent: You quickly map how an org actually works — where information bottlenecks, which channels are dead weight, where tribal knowledge lives. You see informal flows, not just the org chart.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
