Lucid Motors USA, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, General Assembly to take concepts through scalable production. You will drive design-for-manufacturing reviews, establish process documentation, and ensure production readiness with cross-functional teams.

You will own launch activities, collaborate on equipment readiness, and improve quality, throughput, and cost metrics across General Assembly programs at our Newark, CA site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• 6 years of experience developing, validating, or launching complex assembly processes.
• 4 years of experience in automotive OEM/high-volume manufacturing.
• Experience creating process documentation (work instructions, PFMEAs, quality plans).
• English proficiency to perform essential duties including safety procedures and communications.

About the Team

The General Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team helps Lucid launch safe, efficient, and production-ready assembly processes at scale. The team partners closely with Product Design, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, Supply Chain, and suppliers to translate vehicle requirements into capable manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and documentation. This team is unique because it works across the full process lifecycle, from early design-for-manufacturing input through prototype builds, launch execution, commissioning, and operational handoff. Team members directly influence vehicle quality, throughput, ergonomics, cost, and launch readiness in one of the most integrated areas of vehicle production.

About the Role

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, General Assembly is an individual contributor role within Manufacturing Engineering and reports to a Manufacturing Engineering leader. This role exists to strengthen Lucid's ability to take general assembly programs from concept through scalable production while improving manufacturability, process capability, equipment readiness, and launch execution. In the first 12 months, this person will own key General Assembly process-development and launch activities, including design-for-manufacturing reviews, process documentation, dimensional-control inputs, equipment readiness, issue tracking, and production handoff. Success will be measured by timely launch execution, clear closure of manufacturing risks, effective cross-functional alignment, validated process controls, and measurable improvements to quality, throughput, ergonomics, and cost. A strong candidate will gain direct ownership of high-impact launch and manufacturing decisions in an environment where engineering choices are closely connected to vehicle build quality, operator safety, and production scalability.

What You Own

• Manufacturing Feasibility: Lead design-for-manufacturing reviews for General Assembly programs and make recommendations that improve manufacturability, quality, ergonomics, throughput, cost, and launch readiness.
• Process Development: Take assigned general assembly processes from concept through prototype builds, validation, manufacturing release, and production handoff.
• Tooling Strategy: Define equipment, tooling, fixture, conveyor, and layout requirements that support safe, repeatable, and scalable production processes.
• Dimensional Control: Develop and implement dimensional-control strategies that support assembly accuracy, product quality, and process capability.
• Launch Execution: Plan and execute manufacturing engineering launch activities, including prototype builds, installation, commissioning, issue tracking, risk mitigation, and cross-functional action-item closure.
• Process Documentation: Create and maintain work instructions, bills of process, PFMEAs, quality control plans, and related documentation that support safe, consistent, and production-ready execution.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Design, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, Supply Chain, suppliers, and leadership to resolve manufacturing constraints and align decisions across product, process, timing, and cost requirements.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 6 years of experience developing, validating, or launching complex assembly processes.
• 4 year of experience in an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, or comparable high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience creating process documentation, including work instructions, bills of process, PFMEAs, quality control plans, or similar manufacturing documents.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with CATIA, 3DX, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience supporting virtual build events, lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, error-proofing, ergonomics, load-path validation, or make-versus-buy studies.
• Experience mentoring engineers, improving manufacturing engineering standards, or supporting technical reviews.
• Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 40% based on program needs.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, assembling components, reviewing equipment, and operating production-related resources.
• Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 10-50 lbs. regularly; occasional lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
• Reaching and Bending: Routine reaching, bending, twisting, and squatting may be required while supporting manufacturing processes, equipment reviews, or launch activities.
• Repetitive Motions: Repetitive arm, hand, and wrist movements may be required when supporting assembly, fastening, positioning, or installation activities.
• Climbing: Occasional use of steps or platforms to access different height-level areas.
• PPE Expectations: Must wear required PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye protection, hearing protection, or other equipment required by company safety standards.

Work Requirement

This role is fully onsite at Lucid's manufacturing location in Newark CA. Daily in-person presence is required to support production, launch readiness, equipment reviews, and cross-functional problem solving.

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$121,900 - $167,640 USD

Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.Eligible employees may also participatein Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program.
