Job summary

Redwire in Littleton, CO is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support development, production, quality, and continuous improvement of space hardware manufacturing. You will drive manufacturing processes for cameras, cables, harnesses, enclosures, and related systems at our Littleton facility.

The role requires a BS in Engineering with 5+ years in aerospace or space manufacturing, AS9100 experience, and ability to work in cross-functional teams. U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes for space flight hardware products.
  • Complete readiness assessments and ensure successful new product launches into production.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc.).
  • Support quality and continuous improvement through root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Identify opportunities to apply lean manufacturing principles to improve quality and schedule.
  • Establish methods to overcome production process challenges.
  • Multi-task and actively engage in the production environment.
  • Work independently and collaboratively under general direction.
  • Maintain process equipment needed to manufacture products.
  • Ensure processes align with standards.
  • Identify production risks and mitigate them; assist with troubleshooting.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure high-quality custom manufactured products.
  • Participate in daily standups to meet goals.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Some travel may be required.

Summary

We have a current opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer located at our facility in Littleton, CO. In this role you will be supporting development, production, quality, and continuous improvement efforts relating to the manufacturing of space hardware (cameras, antennas, cables & harnesses, electrical boxes, data acquisition systems, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes for a variety of space flight hardware products.
  • Complete readiness assessments and ensure the successful new product launches into production.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc.)
  • Support quality and continuous improvement through root cause analysis and the implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions (including repair and rework).
  • Identify opportunities to apply lean manufacturing principles to improve quality and schedule.
  • Establish methods to overcome production process challenges.
  • Multi-tasking and active engagement in the Production environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to execute tasks under general direction.
  • Maintain process equipment needed to manufacture products.
  • Ensure processes and procedures comply with standards.
  • Identify risks to production and implement mitigation plans.Assists production personnel with troubleshooting and guidance resolving everyday issues.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure the delivery of high quality custom manufactured products.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings to ensure daily goals are met as needed.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
  • Some limited travel may be required.
Ideal Experience
  • B.S. in Engineering or other related discipline. With a minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environments (preferably Aerospace, Defense or Space). Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in an AS9100 quality system.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder (Visa sponsorship not accepted).
Desired Skills
  • Experience building positive relationships, communicating across functional and physical boundaries, managing cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
  • Thorough understanding of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques in manufacturing.
  • Experience with Epsilon3.
  • Solid understanding of printed circuit board assembly, electronic enclosure and wire harness development, manufacture and quality control consistent with IPC standards.
  • Ability to create business cases to support process development efforts by collaborating with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Teams.
  • Experience determining the most efficient sequence of operations by analyzing production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules.
  • Subject matter expert in design for manufacturability, yield improvements, supplier capability assessments, quality control, etc.

Pay Range $100,000 - $130,000/year

How We Determine What We Pay (Compensation Philosophy) Redwire determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
