Job description

Our client, a world-class manufacturer of medical device capital equipment, is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you will be part of the manufacturing engineering organization supporting continuous improvement and new product introduction efforts. The ideal candidate will bring strong root-cause problem solving, a Lean mindset, and the ability to collaborate across operations and engineering to remove constraints and improve production performance.

Job Title:Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

Location:St. Paul, MN

Pay Range:$38/hr. - $42/hr.

Duration:11+ Month Contract

What's the Job?

  • Manage projects that improve manufacturing constraints, including physical space requirements, inbound/outbound material flow, storage needs, and process limitations.
  • Drive new product introductions by bridging Manufacturing Engineering and Operations—answering “where do things go,” “how will it be laid out,” and “how will materials flow.”
  • Identify and close process-related gaps through CAPAs, Production Excellence improvements, production quality metrics, changeover risk reduction, standard work, and 5S implementation.
  • Apply engineering skill sets through Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) to production-related challenges that extend beyond product and raw material manufacturing/quality issues.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve productivity, quality, process efficiency, space utilization, standardization, and lead time.

What's Needed?

  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience with strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Educational qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, or another engineering/technical degree (or equivalent experience) aligned with engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings, with the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed, fast-paced, and changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Lean and continuous improvement methods, including 5S, time study, capacity modeling, standard work, material flow, value stream mapping, process mapping, and Kaizen events.
  • Ability to support and comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), OSHA-related work environment expectations, and company policies/procedures.

What's in it for me?

  • Opportunity to lead meaningful manufacturing improvements that address real operational constraints such as space, material flow, documentation limitations, and process gaps.
  • Chance to be a key bridge between Manufacturing Engineering and Operations during aggressive growth and new product introduction initiatives.
  • Use RCPS and structured problem-solving approaches to drive sustainable improvements across multiple functions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen standardization, changeover readiness, and production quality performance.
  • Work in a regulated environment where your engineering decisions directly support compliance and continuous improvement.
