Tory Burch is seeking a Sr. Manager, Technical Design for our Wovens and Bottoms RTW category in New York.

This role partners with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, and Production to drive fit, construction specifications, and development approvals from concept to production. You will lead patternmaking and live-model fittings, communicate with offshore offices and suppliers, and build a robust fit block library while maintaining Tory Burch standards for quality and calendar

Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of experience in Technical Design, patternmaking, garment construction, and fittings.
  • Strong knowledge of woven fabrics, materials, construction, and fit execution.
  • Experience managing, coaching, and developing team members, with ability to provide clear direction, feedback, and support.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to guide priorities, influence cross-functional partners, and support team accountability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of fit and the ability to execute, troubleshoot, and improve garment fit.
  • Ability to lead and conduct fittings on live models and fit forms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PDF tools, and related technical design systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update the technical specifications to complete the design tech packs. Assist design in putting together tech packs for proto development and publish tech packs.
  • Collaborate with product and design teams, understand the vision and provide technical expertise, by foreseeing problems and offering alternatives to the design team without compromising the look.
  • Review proto samples, design and fit intent and patterns and suggest adjustments as necessary.
  • Critique samples before a fit session ensuring all set requirements have been met.
  • Build and maintain fit block for Woven Product. Collaborate on cross-functional alignment on fit blocks.
  • Conduct fittings, pinning the garment, resolving any fit issues and demonstrating to the design/product teams that the corrections will result in the desired look.
  • Collaborate on assigned team (hard/soft wovens, bottoms) of Product Development/Production members, Pattern Makers, and Sample Makers to ensure fit approvals are timely and quality is maintained.
  • Communicate with offshore offices and suppliers on all technical issues, pattern updates, providing technical feedback and corrections.
  • Update and release graded specs upon garment approval.
  • Travel to fit product with offshore office and suppliers as needed.
  • Manage development and production T&A and surface any deadline issues; prioritize workload for direct reports.
  • Schedule appropriate fit models for fittings.
  • Maintain technical standards and consistency across products, ensuring fit, construction, and quality expectations are met.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cross-functional teams and downstream implications of technical decisions.

This role partners closely with Design, Merchandising, Product Development and Production to support fit and technical execution from initial concept through production, including construction specifications, technical fit packages, and development approvals.This position requires strong experience in patternmaking, garment construction, and fittings on both live models and fit forms. Strong woven and denim bottom patternmaking background needed. The Sr. Manager, Technical Design is responsible for communicating fit comments and corrections to offshore offices and suppliers, resolving fit issues, and providing clear technical direction through sketches, patterns, samples, garment specifications, and written and verbal communication.A Day in the Life:Develop and update the technical specifications to complete the design tech packs. Assist design in putting together tech packs for proto development and publish tech packs.Collaborate with product and design teams, understand the vision and provide technical expertise, by foreseeing problems and offering alternatives to the design team without compromising the look.Review proto samples, design and fit intent and patterns and suggest adjustments as necessary.Critique samples before a fit session ensuring all set requirements have been met. Come prepared to fittings with all related information from the previous fitting, i.e. fit comments, sample, etc.Work on building and maintaining fit block for Woven Product. Collaborate on Cross Functional alignment on fit blocks.Conduct fittings, pinning the garment, resolving any fit issues and demonstrating to the design/product teams that the corrections being applied will result in the desired look.Collaborate on assigned team (hard/soft wovens, bottoms) of Product Development/Production members, Pattern Makers, and Sample Makers to ensure fit approvals for all styles in relevant category are being approved in a timely manner and quality is up to Tory Burch standards.Communicate with the offshore offices and suppliers on all technical issues, pattern updates, providing technical expertise on how to correct or achieve a desired look and giving detailed feedback on samples.Make sure design intent are maintained throughout the size range, making adjustments when necessary for smaller or larger sizes. Update and release graded specs upon garment approval.Travel when required to fit product with offshore office and suppliers. Visit suppliers and work with pattern makers and technical staff to make sure that requirements are understood.Manage the development and production T&A and surface any deadline issues that may result in not meeting set deadlines.
