Qualifications

Job description

The Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager will collaborate with Product Development, Brand, and other internal departments as well as external manufacturing partners as it relates to sourcing of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering quality, service, and price to ensure continuity of supply for all products. This position may lead and coach teams who will work directly with our ingredient/component manufacturing partners to determine availability of new/improved ingredients to streamline new product development. The individual will also develop sourcing programs, at time specify suppliers and specific suppliers or commodities which actively support the strategic vision and is expected to actively contribute to the team to achieve those goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies for specific categories being purchased using focused industry analysis, criticality analysis, business knowledge, competitive analysis, and sourcing expertise
  • Lead and coach internal business partners and team members on the sourcing process: gather requirements, market analysis, identifying sources, proposal evaluation, negotiations, contract creation, contract management, spend analysis, and long-term category planning.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on cost, quality, reliability, and strategic fit.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships. Serve as a central point of contact for all supplier-related activities and decisions.
  • Develop supplier performance metrics (KPIs) and lead performance reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement - Ensure competitive Price, Quality & Delivery Performance. Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Support Marketing and Retail Ops leadership in development of supply base and commodity strategies consistent with business initiatives
  • Establish supplier relationship management processes and continuous improvement goals/programs
  • Work with our finished product manufacturing partners and raw material suppliers to identify challenges associated with the development of new products as it pertains to new product concepts, new/existing packaging designs, raw material and component sourcing
  • Update suppliers on changes in volume to leverage new pricing while building trust and partnership with key suppliers.
  • Propose cost savings initiatives through competitive sourcing and changing ingredients to cheaper options with the customer in mind.
  • Manage bidding processes and apply proper leverage.
  • Track historical pricing and create benchmarks for future supplier negotiations based off market conditions at that time.
  • Investigate and recommend new supplement/component manufacturers, manufacturing technologies and potential manufacturing partners with an emphasis on high quality, small MOQ’s, short lead-times, and low cost
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing structures. Ensure contract terms include quality and service level expectations.
  • Manage supply chain risks (e.g., geopolitical, financial, operational).
  • Develop dual sourcing strategies and contingency plans.
  • Address and escalate supplier-related quality and supply issues in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Analyze market trends, pricing forecasts, and commodity indexes.
  • Drive innovation utilizing relationships & trade shows to find new ingredients, technologies, emerging markets for innovations.
  • Source and propose new ingredients and suppliers with fresh ideas and products.
  • To Solve quality and lead time issues with ingredients or components.
  • Perform Additional duties as assigned by leadership

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising multiple projects.
  • Responsible for supervising a team of employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred.
  • 2+ years progressive in sourcing of dietary supplement (DS) raw materials, bulk supplements, and/or packaging components experience preferred.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
  • 2+ years’ experience in the nutrition industry or comparable experience.
  • Prior managerial/supervisory experience preferred.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications required.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting with limited supervision and ability to hit deadlines.
  • Willing to work Monday through Friday during normal business hours (8am – 5pm), and able to work evenings and weekends as projects require to complete assignments.
