Job description

Position Title: Production Manager - Dietary Supplement Manufacturing

Position Overview:

The production manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day manufacturing operations within a fast-paced, high-complexity dietary supplement facility. This role ensures production targets are achieved while maintaining strict adherence to FDA regulations, cGMP standards, and internal quality systems.

This individual will drive operational efficiency, optimize labor and throughput, and partner cross-functionally with Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective production.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in regulated manufacturing environments, strong leadership capability, and hands-on approach to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage daily production operations across mulitp0le product formats (e.g., powders, capsules, tablets, liquids, gummies.
• Ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 111, cGMP requirements, and all internal quality and safety standards.
• Drive production scheduling and execution to meet customer demand, OTIF (On-time-in-full), and throughput targets.
• Monitor and improve KPIs including yield, labor efficiency, downtime, scrap, and batch cycle times.
• Partner closely with Quality Assurance to ensure batch record accuracy, deviation management, and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure raw material availability and production continuity.
• Identify and implement process improvements using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Oversee workforce planning, staffing, and training to support production needs and maintain compliance standards.
• Lead and develop supervisors and production staff, fostering accountability, engagement, and performance.
• Ensure proper documentation and execution of batch records, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Manage equipment utilization and coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize asset performance.
• Support new product introductions (NPI), scale-up activities, and process validation efforts.
• Maintain a sage working environment and ensure compliance with all OSHA and workplace safety standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in operations, supply chain, or related field (preferred).
• 5 plus years of production/manufacturing leadership experience in the dietary supplement industry is required.
• Experience in contract manufacturing (CMO/CDMO) environments.
• Exposure to multiple dosage forms (capsules, powders, liquids, softgels, gummies)
• Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations (FDA 21 CFR Part 111) and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience managing high-SKU, batch-based manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated success improving operational metrics and driving efficiency initiatives.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and tactically.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification, preferred.
