Visionworks in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Quality Management Lead to design, implement, and govern the QMS across manufacturing and fulfillment operations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience with hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of direct reports.
  • Minimum of 3 years of ownership or major responsibility for a formal QMS (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485, or similar).
  • Experience developing and implementing a quality management system.
  • Subject matter expertise in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and data-driven problem solving.
  • Proven results leading initiatives that improve quality, reduce risk, or generate measurable savings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the QMS across locations.
  • Develop and manage the annual Quality Management and Quality Improvement plan, milestones, and reporting.
  • Own QMS governance requirements, including process standards, system requirements, documentation controls, and management reviews.
  • Lead RCA/CAPA processes and drive corrective action effectiveness.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and report to cross-functional leaders in Manufacturing, Fulfillment, Engineering, Operations and suppliers.
  • Oversee coaching, performance reviews, and hiring for the quality organization.
  • Manage the operational budget and staffing for quality initiatives.

Job description

General Summary

Lead the design, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) supporting manufacturing and fulfillment operations across multiple locations. This role is accountable for building and developing the quality team, strengthening product and supplier/vendor quality, leading risk management and RCA/CAPA processes, and driving cross-functional quality improvement initiatives that improve quality, service, compliance, and cost performance.

Essential Functions

Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System and Quality Management/Continuous Improvement program supporting manufacturing and fulfillment operations.

Develop and manage the annual Quality Management and Quality Improvement plan, including priorities, milestones, risk reduction activities, quality performance goals, and reporting routines.

Own QMS governance requirements, including process standards, system requirements, QMS software administration, document/process control expectations, performance reporting, and management review routines.

Lead identification and resolution of product quality, supplier/vendor quality, process quality, and service quality gaps through data analysis, trend review, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action.

Manage the development, implementation, and review of quality improvement activities, including Voice of the Customer incident reports, product quality and safety, risk management, supplier/vendor quality, nonconformance trends, and corrective action effectiveness.

Establish and monitor quality performance metrics and reporting routines that provide visibility to quality risks, improvement progress, CAPA status, supplier/vendor performance, and customer/internal quality impact.

Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Fulfillment, Engineering, Operations, Supplier/Vendor partners, and other business leaders to drive quality system maturity, process discipline, and sustained business improvement.

Monitor performance of direct reports and matrixed reports; provide prompt and objective coaching and counseling; develop individual Goals and conduct performance reviews.

Participate in the interviewing and hiring process for open positions within the unit to ensure most qualified candidates are selected.

Manage overall operational budget and staffing needs to meet business and financial performance objectives.

Job Specifications
Required skills or abilities:

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience; Minimum of 1 additional year of experience related to functional area.

Minimum of 3 years of management experience with responsibilities for hiring, training, assigning work and managing performance of direct reports

Minimum of 3 years of direct ownership or major responsibility for a formal Quality Management System (QMS), such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, ISO 13485, or a comparable quality framework.

Experience in developing and implementing new quality management system

Subject matter expertise in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and data-driven problem solving, with demonstrated measurable business or quality impact

Demonstrated results in leading initiatives that improved service quality, reduced risk, increased efficiency, improved customer experience, or generated measurable savings.

Ability to manage complex organizational projects where independent action, accountability, and coordination across departments are required

Proven ability to collaborate with other managers to accomplish objectives

Skilled motivator with strong leadership skills who can increase employee engagement

Strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills

Ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, problems, priorities and projects

Willingness to travel and be on short term implementation projects
