WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK

This position is fully remote and open to candidates within the United States. Equipment for the role will be provided and training will occur virtually.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The Sr. Manager, Pump Sales is responsible for driving new patient acquisition and renewal growth by leading and optimizing lead generation strategies across all internal sales channels. This role builds, manages, and scales inside sales operations to complement the external field sales force, with a strong emphasis on generating high-quality leads and accelerating pipeline development. With expertise in inside sales, insurance verification, and reimbursement processes, the Sr. Manager ensures the timely qualification and conversion of leads into shipments and overall sales performance.

Sr. Manager, Pump Sales at Tandem are also responsible for:

  • Oversee the hiring, development, performance appraisal, and promotion of department staff, ensuring proper training and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Lead and coach department leaders on guiding frontline teams to achieve optimal productivity and exceed New Patient and Renewal shipment goals.
  • Develop and deploy standardized sales talk tracks (e.g., Challenger Sales, SPIN Selling) to drive consultative selling behavior and improve customer conversion.
  • Implement and manage lead generation strategies, focusing on new patient and renewal pump sales while building lead scoring models to prioritize high-conversion opportunities.
  • Oversee inside sales team operations, ensuring efficient handling and nurturing of inbound and outbound leads, and track performance metrics (e.g., conversion rates, productivity).
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Field Sales, and Market Access teams to align lead generation campaigns, optimize lead flow, and improve customer acquisition and conversion rates.
  • Identify and implement tools, technologies, and automation (e.g., CRM, Genesys) to improve lead generation efficiency and sales support functions.
  • Monitor call center metrics (e.g., call quality, service levels, handle times) and collaborate with Work Force Management to assess staffing needs and hold teams accountable to goals.
  • Provide recommendations for process improvements, including pump order processing, insurance verification, and training development, while ensuring high service levels and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and prepare monthly reports for senior management, act as liaison between inside and field sales staff, and manage department planning (e.g., headcount, budgeting, training).
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Tandem Diabetes products, diabetes care, and competitor products to guide sales strategy.
  • Participating in the development of sales call scripts and automating processes to improve overall efficiency.
  • Managing both short- and long-term planning for staffing, budgeting, training, and systems requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • 8 years of experience in related industry roles, including inside sales management and medical insurance reimbursement verification.
  • 2 years’ experience managing a customer-facing department and associated staff.
  • Successful track record of developing and implementing processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate processing of orders for company products.
  • Extensive experience with inside sales, insurance verification, filing reimbursement claims, communicating with payors, and resolving denials with favorable results.

  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State regulations regarding medical reimbursement, documentation, coding, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Proven success in motivating and managing staff, fostering collaboration between customer support, finance, and sales teams.
  • Skilled in influencing others in sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships and creating a unified team environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritize goals, assess team capabilities, and coordinate resources for optimal results.
  • Proficient in MS Office, CRM software, and delivering presentations and technical training sessions.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $105,000.00 - $131,000 annually plus incentive compensation (commission-based compensation is based on the achievement of goals). Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision available your first day, as well as health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (with accrual starting on day 1) and you will have access to a 401k plan with company match as well as an Employee Stock Purchase plan.
