Job summary

About this role

Leads a team of experienced Procurement professionals or team leaders, overseeing RFPs, negotiation strategy, cost accountability, and/or program execution. Develops programs for effective vendor selection and management to minimize the organization’s purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply. Directs resolution of client issues or problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops processes, standards, and operational plans in support of Procurement strategy, including RFPs, negotiation strategy, cost accountability, and / or program execution.
  • Designs programs for effective vendor selection and management with a view to minimize purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply.
  • Monitors changes in price trends and manufacturing processes to ensure successful procurement process.
  • Partners with clients, and leverage systems/tools to ensure vendors are performing or exceeding expectations
  • Proactively directs resolution of client issues or problems.
  • Approves and qualifies vendors to fulfill account needs.
  • Establishes and directs request for proposal (RFP) and bid package process.
  • Coaches and mentors team members; partners with employees to develop and execute Performance Development Plans, attainment of professional goals and access to appropriate formal and informal learning experiences.
  • Represents supply chain in cross functional activities including new product introduction, cost reduction, quality and/or manufacturing improvements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years’ experience in sourcing/supply chain/operational leadership.
  • 3+ years of experience leading a purchasing team
  • 3+ years of experience purchasing, material management and/or supply chain.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading a team
  • Degree in purchasing, supply chain, engineering, materials management preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) and presentation skills.
  • Effective negotiating skills at mid-management level.
  • Problem Solving, quantitative skills and decision making talent.
  • Must be able to work across all functions and levels of an organization.
  • Proven project management skills and demonstrable process implementation ability.
  • Experience with ERP's and Microsoft 365 suite
  • Ability and desire to lead a team and be hands‑on with day‑to‑day work
  • Six Sigma certification(s) or training is a plus
