Position Overview

Senior Manager, Organizational Development & Workplace Experience

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Organizational Development & Workplace Experience to join our Human Resources team.

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this position serves as a strategic partner to leaders and employees, leading initiatives that strengthen organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, talent development, workplace culture, and the employee experience.

The Senior Manager will also oversee key workplace and facilities functions, ensuring a safe, welcoming, efficient, and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is a strategic and hands‑on HR professional who can develop programs, coach leaders, facilitate training, analyze data, manage projects, and build strong relationships across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Organizational Development & Talent
  • Partner with HR leadership and organizational leaders on workforce planning, talent development, organizational effectiveness, and strategic HR initiatives.
  • Lead or support organizational change initiatives, including planning, communications, stakeholder engagement, and implementation.
  • Support performance management, succession planning, career development, and talent management programs.
  • Analyze workforce trends and HR metrics to identify opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee performance, development, and organizational effectiveness.
Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Develop and implement employee engagement and recognition initiatives that strengthen organizational culture and employee connection.
  • Coordinate employee surveys, focus groups, and other feedback initiatives and develop action plans based on results.
  • Lead employee recognition, wellness, and internal communication initiatives, including the biweekly employee newsletter.
  • Promote organization values and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives.
  • Oversee FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other statutory and organizational leave programs, partnering with payroll to ensure accurate administration.
Learning & Development
  • Lead employee learning and development programs, including needs assessments, program development, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Oversee new employee onboarding and identify opportunities to enhance the employee experience.
  • Partner with leaders on leadership development, professional growth, and career development initiatives.
  • Manage compliance training and monitor completion requirements.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
Workplace Experience & Facilities
  • Oversee office operations, facilities maintenance, office services, and workplace needs.
  • Manage relationships with building management, vendors, contractors, and workplace service providers.
  • Coordinate office space planning, workplace improvements, moves, renovations, and other facilities projects.
  • Ensure compliance with building requirements and workplace safety standards.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and business continuity activities.
  • Manage facilities‑related budgets and expenditures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the workplace experience while balancing employee, operational, and financial needs.
Human Resources
  • Ensure HR programs and practices comply with applicable employment laws, regulations, and Academy policies.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations, performance management, and other HR matters.
  • Support HR reporting, workforce analytics, recruitment, retention, benefits, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Participate in strategic planning and organization‑wide initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressively responsible HR experience, including 3–5 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Experience in organizational development, employee engagement, learning and development, organizational culture, and/or change management.
  • Experience developing and implementing talent, engagement, or organizational effectiveness initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong project management, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or equivalent HR certification.
  • Organizational Development or Change Management certification.
  • Experience administering FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave programs.
  • Experience overseeing facilities, workplace operations, vendors, or office management.
  • Experience designing and facilitating leadership or professional development programs.
  • Experience using HR metrics, workforce analytics, or employee engagement data.
About the Academy

The Academy offers a competitive starting salary of $95,000–$110,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) match with immediate vesting.

We also offer a comprehensive paid leave program, including paid sick and vacation time, as well as additional leave options in accordance with Academy policy.
