Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Manager on Target’s Market Research and Analysis team to lead market analysis, location research, and capital investment strategy for stores nationwide.

You will partner with Finance, Real Estate, Operations, and Stores teams to shape market strategy and store reinvestment decisions, owning sales forecasting and presenting insights to senior leadership. Hybrid work in Minnesota is available. Travel 20-25% is expected.

The pay range is $95,000.00 - $171,000.00

A role on the Financial Planning and Analysis team means providing insight and guidance to support Target’s strategic growth strategies and financial decisions. You’ll deliver objective and financially-focused insights to the business owners and finance leaders. You will be a critically important resource for long-term and annual financial planning, analysis and drive cross-company initiatives.

As a Senior Manager on Target’s Market Research and Analysis team, you will be responsible for market analysis, strategic planning and location research for Target’s new and existing store capital investment programs. You will partner closely across the Market Research, Finance and Properties-Real Estate, Operations, Stores and Merchandising teams to develop and communicate holistic market strategy, drawing on your expert geographic, store and market insights. You will influence both new store location strategy and existing store reinvestment decisions geared towards maximizing market value. You will own store sales forecasting for locations across your unique set of markets, driving for accuracy while evaluating the importance of store location attributes; interpreting strategic tradeoffs, competitive positioning, site dynamics, market trends, demographic and economic indicators. You will leverage your excellent communication skills for presentations to Senior Leadership across MRA, Real Estate, Finance and the Capital Committee. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to improve research methodologies, GIS systems, databases, demographics and analytical tools.

About You

• MA/MBA or equivalent in business, geography, urban planning or related field
• 6-8 years relevant business experience
• Strong analytical, decision-making, project management and organizational skills
• Superior leadership skills with enthusiasm, initiative and a passion for results
• Experienced in collaborating across departments/business units and driving results through collaboration
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; tailors message by audience, negotiate consequences, handle crisis, setbacks and conflicts constructively and diplomatically, and provide essential information to the right people at the right time; relationship-building aptitude
• 20-25% Travel

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location (Tues, Wed, & Thurs) the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
