Job summary

Watts Water Technologies in Export, PA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering leader to supervise engineers, technicians, facilities and maintenance, driving operations excellence on-site. You will guide plant layout, equipment selection and standard work to optimize production costs and efficiency.

The role requires 10+ years in manufacturing, strong Lean/Six Sigma, and leadership across cross-functional teams. On-site in Export, PA with travel <10% domestically and internationally. The company offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, EMET, or Industrial engineering.
• 10+ years of manufacturing processes, NPI, machinery, and documentation.
• Lean and Six Sigma experience required for continuous improvement.
• Experience in metal forming tubing industry desirable.

Job description

Scope of Position

This position leads Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, Facilities and Maintenance to continually improve and develop processes, people and equipment to drive operational excellence. This position is responsible for supervision of engineers, technicians, facilities, and maintenance. This position reports to Director of Operations. This role is onsite and is based in Export, PA.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of engineers and technicians that are involved in developing optimal processes for production including plant layout, machine selection, tooling, and standard work
• Oversees the development and implementation of all manufacturing processes to improve product cost, efficiency, and functionality of the factory
• Ensures alignment between the manufacturing engineering team and other manufacturing departments to promote a cohesive relationship
• Responsible for the development and project management of new capital equipment to aid in improving manufacturing processes
• Provide direction on projects to ensure that safety is a priority and an integral part of the design and implementation of all and any projects
• Influence and drive cross-functional problem solving to ensure the attainment of continuous improvement objectives
• Develops and evaluates engineering changes and specification requirements
• Directs in-house design of product tools, jigs, cells, and fixtures to ensure efficient, optimized production methods
• Supports new product development (stage gate process) by ensuring proper and effective support of new product launches
• Oversees the on-time creation of all manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, work instructions, SOPs) and ensures that production rates and machine cycle times are available/accurate/consistent for new products per the project plan
• Works directly with operations and continuous improvement to optimize plant layout, material product flow, and plant efficiencies
• Support any and all control debugging, upgrades, and automation efforts as needed in the factory
• Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Company management
• Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, EMET, Industrial); MBA preferred
• Ten+ years’ experience with manufacturing processes, new product introduction, machinery, and documentation.
• Experience in metal forming tubing industry and high-volume manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Comprehensive experience applying Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to continuous improvement and new product introduction efforts is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of general mechanical engineering and mechanical design principles and practices.
• Extensive project management experience in product development and manufacturing environments.
• Proven leadership and management of diverse work teams.
• Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office or equivalent software
• Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
• Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Project software is a plus.
• Experience in CAD and 3D software is a plus

Working Conditions

While performing the job duties, you will be working on-site at a manufacturing facility and will perform the majority of your duties in an office environment. You may, at times, be required to be present on the manufacturing floor and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment. You will be required to work in the office at the Export, PA location (Monday – Friday). Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to: Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods. Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods. Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials. Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks. Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers. Ability to occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment. Ability to physically move around manufacturing floor. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
