Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking an Engineer to design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules while improving productivity and quality.

The role requires collaboration across engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with RoHS, REACH, Prop65, and related standards. Travel ~5% including international assignments may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD systems.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules and improve productivity and quality.
  • Support product stewardship activities to ensure compliance with global environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate products for compliance with regulations such as RoHS, REACH, Prop65, Conflict Minerals, PFAS, and related standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to resolve compliance issues.
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory documentation, declarations, compliance certificates, and customer responses.
  • Monitor changes in environmental and product compliance regulations and communicate impacts to the organization.
  • Maintain regulatory data, records, and databases related to product compliance and stewardship programs.
  • Analyze compliance data and prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and customers.

Main Purpose of the Role

This position will design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.

  • Analyzecompliancedataandpreparereports,dashboards, andpresentationsformanagementandcustomers.
  • Contributetocontinuousimprovementprojectsrelatedtoproductstewardshipprocessesandtools.
  • Excellentverbalandcommunicationskillsatmultipleleveloforganization.Abletoarticulatefindingsandanalysisintechnicalreports
  • Collect, review and maintain material composition and compliance data from suppliers and internal databases.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelors Degree (± 16 years) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Experience/Background
  • 0-3 years relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD systems.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical reasoning, physics, electronics, metal working and plastics.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is $73,900.00 – $116,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
