Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of clinical laboratory experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• ASCP certification (MLS, MT, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations, CAP standards, and laboratory accreditation requirements.
• Demonstrated experience managing laboratory budgets, staff performance, and operational metrics.
• Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and quality management tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day clinical laboratory operations including staffing, workflow, quality oversight, and throughput.
• Lead, develop, and evaluate laboratory staff including medical technologists, phlebotomists, and support personnel.
• Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and all applicable state and federal laboratory regulations.
• Oversee laboratory quality management programs including proficiency testing, equipment calibration, and corrective action.
• Develop and manage the laboratory budget including labor, reagents, supplies, and capital equipment.
• Collaborate with medical directors, pathologists, and clinical leadership on laboratory service line strategy and improvement initiatives.
• Manage vendor relationships including laboratory equipment contracts, reagent suppliers, and reference lab partnerships.
• Lead laboratory preparedness for regulatory inspections and accreditation surveys.
• Oversee implementation of new laboratory tests, platforms, and information system upgrades.
• Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives and build a culture of accountability and precision within the laboratory team.
