Job description

Overview

The Infrastructure Leader owns the technology foundation that keeps network of Plants, Relogistics sites, and the corporate organization running. The role is accountable for cloud and enterprise infrastructure, the plant and distribution network, cyber security operations, telephony, and the endpoint and rugged device fleet.

This is a hands-on leadership role in an operating company, not a corporate staff position. Our facilities run multiple shifts nearly every day of the year. When the network or the scanning environment is unavailable, trailers do not load and pallets do not ship. The successful candidate measures success in production continuity, not in system availability percentages.

The incoming leader inherits a functioning team, a defined managed service portfolio, and a mandate to raise reliability and standardization across a highly distributed footprint.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, develop and hold accountable a team, including a cloud operations manager and a senior cyber security manager.

  • Own hiring, performance management, coaching, succession planning and skills development for the function.

  • Set and enforce infrastructure standards, architecture and the multi-year technology roadmap.

  • Serve as a member of the IT leadership team, contributing to enterprise technology strategy and representing infrastructure to Finance, Operations and executive leadership.

  • Establish operational rhythm: change management, incident and problem management, and capacity planning.

  • Own the Microsoft Azure estate: subscription and landing zone design, identity through Microsoft Entra ID, governance, tagging, cost management and commitment optimization.

  • Own hybrid Windows Server, virtualization, storage, backup and the disaster recovery program.

  • Define resilience by site tier, including recovery time and recovery point objectives, and prove them through exercises that include a plant floor rather than only the data center.

  • Own patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration baselines and lifecycle refresh across servers and cloud workloads.

  • Partner with the business systems and data organizations on infrastructure for enterprise applications, including the pallet management and warehouse systems.

  • Own wide area network design, carrier relationships, circuit provisioning and diverse or redundant connectivity by site tier.

  • Own plant and warehouse local networks, including intermediate distribution frame build standards, uninterruptible power and environmental monitoring.

  • Own wireless coverage engineering. Conduct site surveys and heat maps sized for racking aisles and scanning density, and require re-survey after any racking or layout change.

  • Own site standup, relocation and closure as a repeatable process: circuit ordering, cabling, standard network build, system cutover, telephony and emergency location registration, device staging, go-live support and hypercare.

  • Own network and infrastructure integration for acquisitions, including tenant and identity consolidation, address space remediation and conformance to standards on a committed timeline.

  • Provide leadership to the cyber security function, which reports to this role, and hold accountability for the control environment across information and operational technology.

  • Own identity and access management, endpoint protection, email security, logging and monitoring, and incident response readiness.

  • Own the security tooling portfolio and drive consolidation where coverage overlaps.

  • Respond to customer security questionnaires, cyber insurance attestations and internal or external audit requests.

  • Maintain the vulnerability management program and report risk posture to executive leadership.

  • Own the managed service provider portfolio: scope definition, service level construction, performance review, escalation and renewal or replacement.

  • Structure agreements for the coverage the business actually needs, including after-hours and weekend support rather than business-hours-only terms.

  • Lead selection processes and negotiate commercial terms with technology vendors and carriers in partnership with Finance and Legal.

  • Hold providers accountable for outcomes rather than activity, and retain enough internal capability to govern them credibly.

  • Own the infrastructure operating and capital plan, including labor, contracted labor, cloud consumption, telecommunications, software and hardware.

  • Deliver to plan and explain variance monthly.

  • Build the annual budget and multi-year capital forecast with defensible assumptions.

  • Identify and deliver cost reduction without degrading production continuity.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

  • Ten or more years of progressive information technology infrastructure experience, including five or more years leading people.

  • Demonstrated experience leading other managers or team leads.

  • Demonstrated ownership of a multi-site network across at least twenty physical locations, including manufacturing, warehouse or distribution facilities.

  • Hands‑on depth in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 at an architecture and operations level, not solely at a governance level.

  • Demonstrated accountability for a service desk and an end‑user computing estate.

  • Experience owning an operating budget and delivering to plan.

  • Experience selecting, contracting and managing managed service providers.

  • Written and verbal communication effective with plant management, executive leadership and external customers.

  • ITIL 4 Foundation or ITIL 5 Foundation, or willingness to obtain within the first year. ITIL 5 launched in January 2026 and ITIL 4 remains valid during the transition period.
