Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Senior Manager in Technology Leadership to define and drive the strategy, engineering, delivery, and operations of wireless transport platforms across the enterprise. You will lead a global team, manage budgets, and shape a multi-site network strategy with partners and stakeholders.

You will oversee WiFi services, cellular transport, DAS, and RF systems across airports and facilities, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity and scalable infrastructure for operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 5+ years leading global cross-functional technical teams (15+ members).
  • 5+ years in network engineering, wireless infrastructure, or related tech.
  • Experience delivering large-scale enterprise wireless networks.
  • Experience managing technology budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience communicating with executive leadership and partnering across business and technology organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse organization of 20+ technical professionals while building talent and fostering an inclusive culture.
  • Define and execute the long-term strategy, product roadmap, and investment priorities for enterprise wireless transport and radio communication services.
  • Provide leadership for secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise WiFi services across airports, campuses, facilities, and locations.
  • Direct cellular transport services, including carrier partnerships and evaluation/adoption of LTE, 5G, private cellular, CBRS, IoT, etc.
  • Oversee design, operation, modernization, and lifecycle management of the Skyview Campus DAS.
  • Lead mission-critical air-to-ground and ground-to-ground radio services for 300+ airports and locations worldwide.
  • Drive operational excellence through reliability, incident management, automation, observability, continuity, and performance objectives.
  • Manage budgets, business cases, vendor relationships, cybersecurity partnerships, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a diverse organization of 20+ technical professionals while building talent, managing resources, and fostering an inclusive, accountable, and innovative culture.
  • Define and execute the long-term strategy, product roadmap, and investment priorities for enterprise wireless transport and radio communication services.
  • Provide leadership for secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise WiFi services across airports, campuses, maintenance facilities, and operational locations.
  • Direct cellular transport services, including carrier partnerships and the evaluation and adoption of LTE, 5G, private cellular, CBRS, IoT, and emerging technologies.
  • Oversee the design, operation, modernization, and lifecycle management of the Skyview Campus Distributed Antenna System.
  • Lead mission-critical air-to-ground and ground-to-ground radio communication services supporting more than 300 airports and operational locations worldwide.
  • Drive operational excellence through service reliability, incident and problem management, automation, observability, business continuity, and measurable performance objectives.
  • Manage budgets, business cases, vendor relationships, cybersecurity partnerships, regulatory compliance, technology investments, and risk mitigation.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing a global workforce that consists of cross functional technical teams of 15 or more.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, telecommunications, wireless infrastructure, or related technology disciplines.
  • Experience delivering and supporting large-scale enterprise wireless networks and communications platforms.
  • Experience managing mission-critical infrastructure operations, major incidents, and service reliability programs.
  • Experience managing technology budgets, vendor relationships, contracts, and strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience communicating with executive leadership and partnering across business and technology organizations.
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting airline, airport, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or another mission-critical operational environment.
  • Experience managing product-based technology organizations using Agile delivery practices.
  • Experience leading enterprise infrastructure modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
  • Wireless Networking: WiFi 6 technology and above, 802.11ax and 802.11be, RF engineering, satellite wireless, predictive and onsite surveys, wireless design, security, authentication, analytics, and observability
  • Cellular and Mobility: LTE, 5G, private cellular, CBRS, carrier transport, mobility services, and IoT connectivity.
  • Distributed Antenna Systems: Active and passive DAS architectures, carrier integration, venue coverage design, RF propagation, optimization, and lifecycle management.
  • Radio Communications: Land Mobile Radio (LMR), conventional/trunked radio systems, AVTEC Dispatch communication system, Motorola Repeaters/subscribers, UHF/VHF Radio Infrastructure, FCC Licensing management
  • Enterprise Networking: TCP/IP, routing and switching, network segmentation, Quality of Service, VPN, SD-WAN, network security, automation, and telemetry.
  • Service Operations: ITIL service management, incident and problem management, monitoring, business continuity, disaster recovery, AIOps, and operational automation.
