Job summary

Viridian Therapeutics, Inc. in Waltham, MA is seeking a Senior Manager of FP&A to lead planning, forecasting, and reporting across R&D, Clinical, Manufacturing, and G&A. This role partners with cross-functional teams to drive performance and improve systems.

The position requires 8+ years FP&A, biotech experience, advanced modeling, NetSuite and Workday Adaptive familiarity, and strong communication. Office-based with three days per week in the office; travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred with 8+ years in FP&A
  • Strong understanding of biotech financial drivers including clinical development and R&D spend
  • Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills; ability to present to non-finance stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning across the organization
  • Analyze variances and communicate actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Produce and analyze reports, dashboards, and corporate metrics
  • Improve financial reporting processes using ERP and planning tools
  • Ensure data integrity between ERP and planning systems
  • Review POs and monitor budget adherence across departments
  • Support vendor negotiations with financial analysis and policy adherence
  • Assist month-end close by identifying trends and variances

Job description

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis will support financial planning, forecasting, and decision-making across our growing biotech organization. This role will partner closely with R&D, Clinical, Manufacturing, and G&A teams to drive financial performance, support strategic initiatives, and enhance financial systems and reporting processes. Experience with ERP systems and Planning tools is highly preferred.

This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)
  • Participate in company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
  • Analyze variances, identify key business drivers, and communicate actionable insights to internal stakeholders
  • Produce, maintain and analyze reports, dashboards and corporate metrics to clearly convey financial data
  • Improve and automate financial reporting processes using ERP and Planning tools
  • Ensure data integrity between ERP and Planning tools
  • Review and approve purchase orders (POs), ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets and company spending policies; partner with department leads to monitor spend and maintain budget discipline
  • Partner closely with the Procurement & Legal team to review vendor agreements, support contract negotiations with financial analysis, and ensure purchasing processes align with budget controls and company policies
  • Collaborate with accounting team to support the month end close by timely identifying and analyzing trends, discrepancies, and variances
Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred with 8+ years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 3+ years in biotech, pharma, or life sciences
  • Strong understanding of biotech financial drivers (clinical development, R&D spend, milestone payments)
  • Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills
  • Interest in expanding AI capabilities within the FP&A function
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP and Adaptive Planning (Workday Adaptive) strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
