Reporting to the Program Lead for the TED portfolio, the Associate Director, Program Management will support the coordination and planning of programs of meaningful scope and strategic importance. In this role, the Program Manager will partner with the Program Lead and cross-functional teams to support timely decision-making, efficient execution, prioritization, risk management, and delivery of key program milestones. Communication of progress, development and maintenance of timelines, identification of risks and dependencies, and escalation of challenges to appropriate stakeholders are key components of success.

The ideal candidate will be innovative, highly organized, and motivated, with a strong foundation in program management and prior experience in drug development. The candidate has demonstrated ability to support and coordinate cross-functional program teams, drive execution of key deliverables, and contribute to effective planning, communication, and risk management. The candidate will be a collaborative team player with well-developed skills for gaining the cooperation of others and ensuring clear communication among team members.

This role may be based in our Waltham, MA headquarters, our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
  • Drive cross-functional integrated program planning and execution for Viridian’s TED programs in partnership with the Program Lead, including mapping activities that support trial execution across phases of development using appropriate program management tools
  • Maintains frequent communication with cross-functional program team members and internal stakeholders to ensure awareness of program status, issues, contingencies, dependencies, and milestones
  • Owns and maintains the cross-functional integrated program timeline for early stage TED programs
  • Prepares program status summaries, dashboards, timeline updates, and risk assessments for review with the Program Lead, program team, and periodic stakeholder forums
  • Partners with team members, in alignment with corporate objectives, to support definition of program objectives, key milestones, scope, risks, assumptions, and dependencies
  • Facilitates team meetings including tracking agenda topics and preparing meeting decks, and ensures clear actions, decisions, owners, and due dates are documented, communicated, and followed through to support timeline adherence
  • Builds strong working relationships across departments and with key stakeholders to support transparency, collaboration, and effective communication
  • Contributes to the Program Governance model and supports adoption of program management practices, tools, and principles within Viridian
Requirements
  • BA/BS in life sciences or equivalent with scientific knowledge or experience and typically 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/drug development program management or related cross-functional project management
  • Must be an innovative, driven, highly organized self-starter with the ability to manage multiple activities and interact effectively with team members, functional stakeholders, and management
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodology, including experience developing dashboards, timelines, risk management tools, action trackers, and contingency plans
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, MS Project, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and related collaboration tools
  • Experience supporting research and development budgets for novel therapeutics, including tracking assumptions, change drivers, and variances in collaboration with Finance and functional stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and coordinate in a matrixed organizational structure, manage time effectively, organize work, and prioritize competing deliverables
  • Willing and able to learn new skills to meet changing needs of the organization
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
