About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering & Maintenance to join a leading food manufacturing organization in Lakeland, FL. This opportunity is available as either a direct hire or contract-to-hire position, depending on the selected candidate and business needs.

This leadership role is responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, equipment reliability, and capital project initiatives across a high-volume manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in manufacturing operations, maintenance strategy, capital project execution, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all engineering and maintenance operations for the manufacturing facility.
• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.
• Drive equipment reliability initiatives and implement continuous improvement strategies across the facility.
• Lead engineering capital projects from planning through execution while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Manage capital and operating budgets for the Engineering and Maintenance departments.
• Build, mentor, and develop engineering and maintenance teams while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Operations, Production, and cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance, production capacity, and overall plant efficiency.
• Coordinate planned shutdowns, major maintenance activities, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
• Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
• Manage vendor relationships, contractors, and outside service providers supporting maintenance and capital projects.
• Monitor maintenance and engineering performance metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Support workforce planning, employee development, succession planning, and overall department performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering or maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering capital projects.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Experience managing engineering and maintenance budgets, including CAPEX.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience

• Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of engineering or maintenance experience within manufacturing.
• Experience in food, beverage, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
• Experience with reliability engineering, CMMS systems, and maintenance best practices.
• PMP, CMRP, SMRP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar professional certifications.
• Experience leading CAPEX planning and execution.
• Proven success implementing continuous improvement initiatives that improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
• Strong project management experience with multiple concurrent engineering initiatives.
