Job summary

Cadence is seeking a Sr Engineering Manager to lead a backend team responsible for Cadence workflow orchestration engine. You will mentor engineers, shape technical strategy, and collaborate with product and the broader community to deliver scalable distributed systems.

You will drive multi-project delivery, define architecture, and improve onboarding, observability, and reliability while engaging with open source participants to influence Cadence's direction.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing software engineering organizations, including experience managing engineering managers.
• Strong background building backend infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Experience with highly scalable, high throughput, low latency, multi tenant systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and system design.
• Experience with Go, Java, or C++.
• Strong technical leadership with ability to guide architecture and strategy.

We are seeking an Sr Engineering Manage with experience building and leading highly scalable, high throughput, low latency, multi tenant backend systems. What the Candidate Will Do:

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience leading and developing software engineering organizations, including experience managing engineering managers
• Strong background building backend infrastructure and distributed systems
• Experience with highly scalable, high throughput, low latency, multi tenant systems
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and system design
• Experience working with multiple programming languages, e.g. Go, Java, or C++
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to guide architectural decisions, establish technical strategy, and drive consensus across stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product partners, and technical leaders
• Experience managing complex, multi-team projects and delivering high quality software
• BS degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field. Masters/Ph.D. preferred
• 10+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including experience managing engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading teams/organizations working on distributed systems or large scale infrastructure
• Experience managing engineering managers and developing engineering leaders
• Experience contributing to or leading an open source project
• Experience with workflow orchestration engines
• Strong technical background with a high bar for quality, scalability, and reliability
• Deep knowledge of modern observability, storage, provisioning technologies
• Experience building developer platforms or infrastructure used by other engineering teams
