Government Cloud has one of the fastest growing teams in Salesforce and growing this piece of the business is a top priority! The GovCloud Engineering and Operations team is responsible for service monitoring and rapid incident response across the various GovCloud environments in Salesforce. Our Engineering and Operations teams work hand in hand with the business to ensure the highest reliability, security and compliance around all of our applications. We are the 'tip of the spear' and the last line of defense protecting company and customer data from our adversaries, ensuring compliance.

As a Senior Manager in Government Cloud, you will be a part of the team responsible for designing, building, maintaining and/or operating innovative Salesforce services and solutions that support the needs of our Government customers. You will be responsible for driving cross-cloud deliverables and leading partnerships with other teams across the company, tracking budget and headcount, driving bonus programs for Government Cloud. You may also be responsible for hiring and retaining the best software/systems engineering talent around, growing your team and the people on it, and helping guide the successful execution of the Government Cloud business plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of DevOps Engineers on projects for our Government customers.
  • Be responsible for the delivery and execution of products and projects in your purview, using automation to reduce toil
  • Partner with other engineering teams and executives to develop short- and long-term security, product, security, and operations strategies.
  • Coordinate and drive delivery of large scale cloud services through a multidisciplinary team
  • Drive customer engagements for proactive ecosystem monitoring and periodic reporting
  • Maintain broad technical knowledge of cloud services to guide team issue resolution
  • Continuously improve policies, procedures, and technology
  • Interact with industry guides, partners, internal staff, and auditors
  • Lead by example, care for the team, and establish credibility through technical excellence
  • Work effectively as part of a geographically distributed team
  • Occasional domestic travel may be required

In this role:

  • You are proficient in infrastructure problems with code, experienced with Kubernetes at scale, and responsible for leading key platform projects.
  • You collaborate on automated CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot production issues, and aim for high service velocity.
  • You demonstrate ownership, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
  • You understand large-scale production infrastructure within third-party cloud providers.
  • You automate governance processes and create detailed documentation.
  • You enhance collaboration with infrastructure teams and interact with innovative developers and architects.
  • You research and develop tools as needed.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of leadership experience
  • Master's degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years deploying distributed apps with Docker and Kubernetes
  • 4+ years in configuration management (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform)
  • 4+ years working with AWS
  • 4+ years Linux system engineering
  • 3+ years in security for sensitive data/environments
  • 4+ years deploying with CI tools (Jenkins, Spinnaker)
  • Scripting experience (Shell, Python, Golang, Ruby)
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and IAAS components
  • Experience with log management tools (Splunk, ELK)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong communication skills and a continuous learner mindset

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with mission-critical systems standards (ISO 27001, PCI, SOC, FISMA, FedRAMP)

Must be a U.S. Citizen on U.S. soil, able to meet government screening standards, including a Criminal Justice Information Services screening with fingerprint scan. Citizenship will be verified through specific documents (e.g., U.S. Passport, REAL ID Driver's License, etc.).
