Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking a Distribution Center IT/WMS Manager to lead the WMS and RF network operations at our Indiana distribution center. You will collaborate with DC operations, manage budgets, and act as the liaison between IT and DC staff, driving efficient merchandise flows.

You will supervise hourly and salaried staff, plan annual budgets, and coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and new hardware or software changes to support DC performance. Weekend support may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
• Experience in a distribution or warehousing environment preferred.
• Prior managerial experience required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as liaison between IT and all personnel on DC site.
• Responsible for monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining the overall performance of the WMS and RF network.
• Analyzes and adjusts WMS strategies in partnership with DC Operations to ensure efficient flows of merchandise.
• Manages the proper tracking of systems related equipment and devices.
• Justifies and communicates any DC requests for new hardware or software changes to the facility Director of Distribution; acts as primary liaison to facilities channel.
• Assists with maintenance, upgrades, and replacements of PCs.
• Manages department expenses and budgets; plans and submits annual budget requests.
• Manages hourly and salaried staff; reviews performance.
• Identifies cost-effective solutions to operational challenges.
• Temporarily fulfills DC Operations Manager role when needed.
• Maintains internal control documentation and responds to audit requests.

Education :

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in either Information Systems or Logistics preferred.

Work Experiences:

• 4+ years of experience configuring and maintaining rules based Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) required
• 4+ years of experience in a distribution or warehousing environment required
• 4+ years of managerial experience required

• Justifies and communicates any DC requests for new hardware or requests for software changes to facility Director of Distribution. If approved by Director, serves as the DC’s primary liaison to the proper channel(s) in facilitating the requests.
• Assists with maintenance, upgrades, and replacements of PC’s.
• Manages department expenses and budgets. Plans and submits annual budget requests for approval.
• Manages hourly and salaried staff, reviews their performance.
• Identifies cost-effective solutions to operational challenges.
• Temporarily fulfills DC Operations Manager role, as needed.
• Maintain internal control documentation, effectively perform assigned internal controls, remediate internal control exceptions, and response to internal and external audit requests
• Responsibilities may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements & Attendance

• Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, as needed to support DC off shift operations.
• Operate effectively in a non-climate controlled environment
• On-call status 24hrs/day to support Distribution Center operations
• Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and safety rules governing professional staff behavior
