Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Analyst - Compliance Risk in McLean, VA. You will lead a broad analytics program, partner with Legal, Risk and Technology, and drive compliance testing strategy across the enterprise.

You will manage a team of data analysts and scientists, hire and mentor talent, and communicate complex analytical results to senior leaders. A strong background in quantitative analysis and open source data tools is required.

Sr. Manager, Data Analyst - Compliance Risk

As a Senior Manager, you will leverage your analytical skills and partner cross‑functionally with teams throughout the company (senior business and compliance leaders, Technology, Product, Risk office, Legal, and Risk Management) to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential Compliance risks to the company, driving current and future Compliance Testing strategy. On a given day you will be:

• Drive current and future Compliance Testing tooling and analytical strategy
• Planning and executing Compliance Testing analytical projects
• Act as the primary liaison between highly technical teams (Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts) and non‑technical stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, Executive Board)
• Understanding technical issues in analytical tools and assessing tools risks and opportunities
• Independently researching, identifying, and prototyping industry best practices for emerging analytical tools
• Communicating results clearly and concisely both verbally and through written communications via reports and presentations
• Leveraging education, colleagues and training opportunities to develop solutions to business problems
• Coaching and mentoring junior staff

Basic Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field) plus at least 7 years of experience performing data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree plus at least 5 years of experience performing data analytics with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.
• At least 5 years of experience performing professional data analysis work
• At least 5 years of experience leading and developing with open source data technologies
• At least 2 years of experience managing people

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or PhD in a Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field
• At least 7 years of experience in statistical or econometrics hands‑on work
• At least 5 years of experience manipulating and performing analysis with large data sets
• At least 5 years of experience in financial services industry
• At least 5 years of experience in developing statistical or econometric models
• At least 5 years of experience in validating statistical or econometric models
• At least 2 years of experience with data governance
• At least 2 years of experience with predictive analytics

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $182,500 - $208,300 for Sr. Data Analysis Manager
McLean, VA: $200,700 - $229,100 for Sr. Data Analysis Manager
Richmond, VA: $182,500 - $208,300 for Sr. Data Analysis Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
